If anyone remembers old fashioned restaurants that served raw celery, carrots, and olives with bread City Hall will bring back those pleasant memories. The menu and food is straight forward and not fancy but very well prepared. Beef is it's speciality. Raw seafood is offered in a beautiful matter sure to please.

This City Hall turns out is a really fine classic New York chophouse. From the exterior it has a classic look, but as you enter the design loses some of the appeal but the choice of lighting and materials. But once you are seated in the upper class college cafeteria setting, the real strength of the place shows. Solid American food, great meat and seafood combined with very good service that results in a very satisfying meal and dinning experience. Enjoy.

From being seated while my guests arrived to a great Syrah-by-the-glass (2001 Edmunds St. John) to an awesome rack of lamb and sole, to efficient, yet non-obtrusive service, this is one city hall that makes for a pleasant evening. Only the lack of seasoning in the complimentary lentil soup needs fixing.

This is my first posting, but I was prompted to write because the service was so unacceptable. We went there for a recent celebratory lunch with nine people. After we were seated, we waited over 20 minutes, and had to ask for water, bread, menus, and for a server. Everyone order one lunch course. Finally, 45 minutes after we sat down, lunch was served--which on a business day where your dining hall is half empty, is outrageous. No one came to ask how our food was or whether we needed anything--at any point. And of course when we finished, we had another long wait for the bill, which we only received after getting up from the table and searching for an employee. As we departed, people fumed over the lousy service. After all, this is an EXPENSIVE restaurant. So my co-worker decided to call the manager the next day. The manager was incredibly rude on the phone; it was truly appalling. His repeated response was only "What do you want me to do about it?" In sum, I will never return to this restaurant and will continue to spread the word about its poor service.

I've been to City Hall a half dozen times because I work nearby and didn't have to pay. Uggh! Fatty steaks...overall tasteless food. Service is slow too. I would never pay to eat here, there are too many other fine restaurants in the area that are worth the price.

THE BEST TIME TO GO TO CITY HALL IS DURING THE WEEKDAY IN THE EVENING. MY FAVORITE SEAT IN CITY HALL IS TO THE REAR, PAST THE FULL BAR TO THE CORNER, FAR BOOTH. AND OF COURSE BRING SOMEONE TO CUDDLE WITH WHILE YOU WAIT ON CITY HALL'S DELECTABLE DISHES. MY FAVORITE MEAL IS THEIR OYSTER APPETIZER (THE SAUCES ARE SUPERB!!!!!!!), CREAMED SPINACH AND MEDIUM RARE STEAK WITH A BOTTLE OF RED WINE. I SO HEART THIS PLACE. I WILL CONCUR WITH SOME REVIEWS THAT CITY HALL PROVIDES SLOW SERVE AT TIMES. BUT MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT SLOW SERVE USUALLY TAKE PLACE ON WEEKENDS AT CITY HALL.
