I used to go there all the time... and if any reader can remind or inform me as to the last name of a beautiful korean waitress named "Katherine"; I would be grateful:) She worked there '92-94... long silky hair and very nice person. anyway, i was just remembering my trips there... met one of my girlfriends there... over all it's a chic place, food is ok, and yes, beautiful people serve food. what's not to like wrapped up in a convenient location? you could do worse...

Their service is disgusting, starting by the futile crew of waitresses. Who the hell do they think they are?! Why is this place described as 'kid-friendly' if their slow staff look at your kids with annoyance? The food is not impressive, and it might arrive to your table already cold. They also took 20 min to bring 3 scoops of ice cream in the end. How useless those employees can be?! Don't bring your kids, they'll be upset. Don't bring another people, they'll be annoyed and you'll be embarrassed. Go to Casa if you are looking for Brazilian food.

I've been going to this place for a while and I thought it was great.. sunday night (6/7/09) there was a rude manager who i thought was a regular employee with issues.. He was sooo rude to us (a group of 4)... He didnt know about c. service and I really think he messed up the restaurant.. everyone else was sooo niceee.. I believe he needs some education and good manners

I spent almost one meal a week at coffee shop this summer. The food is definitely diner-y. But can you beat the deal considering the view? Amazing people watching in an awesome part of town, with a really good turkey burger or a bangin' cobb salad, pao de quiejo, and perfect mojitos. And the waitstaff is not nearly as bad as EVERYONE seems to think! I've always had nice, friendly, servers, who were personable and cheerful. Really nice people. Bottom line: Great expectations, great disappointments. Expect a chill time, with relatively cheap food, and a great view.

This place is totally useless. The food is 'meh' and overpriced, the service is terrible, it's full of model-wannabe douchebags, and if you're not pretty, everyone--the staff in particular--could care less about you and will make it known. It's the type of place that stays in business simply because certain "popular kids" say it's cool. It's not. You'd be better off at the Olive Garden.

Humiliating Exerience at The Lounge @Coffee Shop NYC and EDENS Wednesday Nites!

As a returning patron of the Coffee Shop NYC and the Lounge specifically on Wednesdays nites- there is a women' s party called EDENS and I have to say my experience on 10/15/08 was HORRIBLE! and humiliating! The Lounge Manager, Charlie Fernandez and his bouncers proved to be ignorant, unprofessional, rude, disrespectful and violent! Mr Fernandez had the audacity to physically assault my friend, to whom I refered EDENS and the Coffee Shop Lounge-NEVER AGAIN! The experience was one in which left my friends and I totally shocked and violated. Mr. Fernandez is lucky he was not arrested along with his goons (the bouncers) They too had little to no respect for women especially lesbians! The Management proved to be clearly homophobic and totally against women! I do NOT recommend this place/party to anyone! ESPECIALLY Lesbians! If you want to be humiliated, harrassed, discriminated against, and ultimately thrown out then by all means go and experience it yourself! Coffee Shop and Lounge You should be ASHAMED of yourselves! as for EDENS you should ensure the safety of your supportive Lesbians! Shame on you too!

October 15th, 2008 we decided to celebrate our friends birthday at the Coffee Shop. We had a great time and decent food at the main dining restaurant on the first floor. everything changed once we went downstairs to their lounge bar Our cocktail waitress was very friendly and gave us good service. We were there 2 hours and for the most part had a good time. There were a couple of party promoters handing out flyers for upcoming parties. Curiously we we began to read them, When the manager of the lounge abruptly came to our table and grabbed them from my friends hand. We said to him what is wrong we want to read these flyers. Annoyed and sarcastically, he said "ok" and walked away. Immediately after, 2 huge bouncers come to our table, physically and aggressively, escorted us out. There were 3 woman in our party and these guys had no problem becoming quite physical with them. The manager is in the background laughing and vulgarly telling us to get out. We called the police and filed a complaint. But then after the officers left he started mocking and antagonizing us again saying "bye bye now".

Went with six friends on a Friday night, made reservations and immediately seated. Not very crowded, but a good amount of people in the place. Drinks took a very long time to come, as did the food. Our female, non-model waitress, (the group was 6 girls) bordered on rude. The food was fine, mildly creative menu and good value for the price. The drinks were flavorful but not very alcoholic. On my next trip, I will stick to wine/beer. This is a fun place to go with a few friends for dinner and drinks. Don't expect and intimate meal, the place gets a bit loud, and without a doubt it's an attractive crowd.

Walked into coffee shop (which was nearly empty) this morning around 10:30 for breakfast. We were a table of 6, and two from our party arrived 10-15 minutes earlier and alerted the hostess to the number of our party. She said "no problem. we'll give you a nice table as soon as everyone arrives." The rest arrived and we were told to wait another couple minutes. Finally the female Maitre D, came over and said they were setting up a back room for us and it would take 2 min. A few minutes later, the Maitre D comes over and say its going to be 20 minutes till they can set the back room! We mentioned that they had already had 15 minutes to arrange something. Her response "I am the Maitre D. I decide where to seat people." We walked out. How hard is it to set a table and feed 6 people? Apparently at Coffee shop, its impossible.
