We had a large group *with three small kids* for brunch at Cookshop, and they handled it impressively well. The table was ready on time for the reservation, the staff was super accomodating (even when we had to move chairs around for the kids), the food was fresh and creative, and everything was timely. They have some seriously organized management -- there are very few restaurants who could have pulled off such a pleasant brunch in the middle of their busiest brunch time. Well done!

I am in love! My mom and I wanted to have brunch but weren't feeling well all day so when we got there it was already 4 pm and Brunch was over. Dinner was not going to start until 530 so we wanted to go to a different place. We walked 2 blocks down, saw two other fancy looking places, one being The Park, and decided to ask people that we saw on the street. Two young men told us to go to Cookshop and we said is it worth the wait till 530 though? They said yes so we decided to go have tea and cheese at the place while we waited. The cheeses were great! - portions a bit small but filling enough, especially as a "starter" and the bread was just unbelievably good! (apple and walnut I believe)... The service was amazing! They did not hassle us and let us wait in peace. We ordered the rotisserie chicken with sweet potatoes, carrots and prunes and it was really an incredible combination! The duck we had came with a squash puree, red cabbage and finger-lake grapes (AMAZING GRAPES!) The duck was very salty, but once I took a bit of it with the squash, cabbage and most importantly the grapes I was sold! It was really a wonderfully inventive dish and the perfecttt combination as well. We will definitely be back!

I just had dinner there for the first time - I had the most amazing roast chicken you have ever seen or tasted in your life, and before that I had brioche bread with mozzarella inside. (if you're reading this, cookshop, maybe you should serve that with jam!)...but it's soo good by itself too. Our waiter was cool and attentive, atmosphere was great and Jessica Lang was 2 tables away, no lie! I had a bite of my sister's fish too (what I'm getting next time) - wish I could remember what it's called, sooo well done. Loved it.

I've been to Cookshop a number of times and it has never disappointed. The food is fantastic-each dish is unique. Our most recent visit was with a large group; we had a number of the appetizers-clams, pizza, hominy, fried green tomatoes. All were excellent. The same was true of entrees, and desserts were off the chart excellent. Unlike the other reviewer, I've always found the service to be attentive without being obtrusive. Cookshop's atmosphere is relaxed and inviting but still elegant. A great date place. One of my absolute favorites in NY.

I had many dinners at Cookshop for the last two years and never been disappointed or mistreated. Last night was no exception. We had a mouthwatering meal that started off with an incredible mackerel carpaccio followed by perfectly done scallops. Our waitress was on point...attentive and knowledgable. I didn't get her name, but she is a petite brunette with a short cropped haircut. And if you're into dining at the bar, note that the bartenders are down to earth, polite and professional. Overall another fantastic and memorable evening. This place does not disappoint. I always recommend it to friends and will definitely be back soon!

This place must be bi-polar, judging from the reviews. I went to Cookshop with my wife for our anniversary. That MAY have been leaked to the maitre'd when I requested a more secluded table than the one originally presented. Not a problem--we were re-seated with a grin. The waiter was even friendlier, if that's possible. My wife had a snack--deviled eggs with smoked trout. smoky indeed, and delish. I had a lobster salad with avocado and a rojas sauce--the sauce was quite spicy but evened out by the mellow and very fresh tasting lobster. My entree was the strip steak. quite tender... undercooked to medium rare but I wasn't bothered. it was a salty, juicy carnivore's dream. My wife, the lover of lamb, got a lamb-mixed grill. lamb sausage and chop--mixed with a garam masala and jasmine rice. Quite tasty. As I knew dessert was looming, I only ate half--if that--of my steak and roasted veg. Good thing. The strawberry 'sundae,' with roasted strawberries, and red wine reduction came with what I thought tasted like key lime pie ice cream. I'd go back to Cookshop just for dessert! We also got a complimentary taste of their Cookshop candy bar. Beautifully and festively presented like a work of lollipop art, it was 2 chocolate covered rectangles on sticks, with a peanut buttery and rich ganache interior. Wifey and I shared both. Wise decision, b/c we wouldn't have managed much more. Then we waddled home, full, happy, and still in love after 15 years. the end.

Cookshop is my go-to for brunch when I have visitors - among other resons, they're one of the few places in town that takes reservations at brunchtime, which is a godsend. Beyond that, the cocktails are inventive and strong (the Bloody Maria packs a hell of a punch), the bacon is flavorful and crisp, and the biscuits are terrific. Bonus that it's a ten-second walk from the north entrance/exit for the High Line.

Fresh decor. It was more open and spacious than the pictures on this site show. Our waiter was attentive and funny, not smothering or absent... Food was good, from the salad to dessert. I ordered a salad, a whole fish, and a ginger mango parfait. All delic without all the hullabaloo of fancy smance over the top presentation. Portion size was perfect. For the price you could have found better in the city, But for me, this place is all about location and comfort. Getting to stretch your legs, take a stroll thru the neighborhood on a lovely night. I sat inside, but the outside eating area looked beautiful as the sun was setting, the sky was an amazing color of bright deep blue... sigh... I will definitely go back.

I was excited to try Cookshop but it was really just okay. Service was good, not fabulous, and food was pretty mediocre. Not bad, but not great.
