Atmosphere and location are Cornelia Street Cafe's 2 strong points - cute little place located on a bustling little street in the heart of the West Village. But, the food was disappointing ... The cheese platter was unimpressive - I could have went to the grocery store, bought a few slabs of America's Choice cheese, threw it on a plate and had a better experience than this. Also, ordered a pizza - one often thinks, who can mess up pizza? It wasnt awful, but it was far from great ... even far from good. I think if anything, CSC is a great spot to meet for a drink (try and sit outside) - I'd stay away from the food though - while its not awful, its at best mediocre and not worth the money.

If you live Downtown and don't expect wannabe-actor/model hostesses and waiters to be misguidedly snooty, you're just not cool enough. Go back to Pennsylvania. (I think it's to the west)

We went back several times to give more chances to this place. We liked the food, the decor and the atmosphere. However, we were treated poorly all 4 times we went there. We had enough. Go there only if you are willing to accept rude and snob service. We'll never go back again.

Reliable at all times of day; reasonable, feel of Old Village

It's a curious combination of bar/restaurant/downstairs performance space, an invention that works. The menu is large enough to please - with hamburgers, more ambitious main courses, at lunch lighter foods like salads and omelettes - all decently prepared and nicely served. Prices are fair. You can have a decent lunch for about $10 and a full dinner with glass of wine (their Malpec is good) for under $25. Tables are small and it's a definite neighborhood place, but useful and won't disappoint if your expectations are realistic. We find it useful and return often.
