Went for Birthday -- Boring

Am I missing something? I was not impressed by my meal -- and it was my birthday! Bread was boring, salad was simply chopped lettuce with dresssing (could you throw in some organic veggies, Long Island goat cheese, something?), and my braised lamb had no flavor. The amuse bouche and pureed potatoe were the best parts of the meal. Perhaps I should have ordered the evening's special.
Great experience, would love to eat here more often

We splashed out for a special occasion and had a great time. The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Our waiter steered us away from some things, suggesting alternatives that were more interesting. The food was delicious, with wonderful quality ingredients, and extremely well executed. Unusually for NYC, the acoustics were very good, you could hear each other across the table. A very enjoyable experience overall.

I can't not say enough good things about Craft. A truly exceptional dining experience! From the great martinis,roasted foie gras,Kobe skirt steak, the chestnut risotto was amazing! as well as the polenta. And the desserts well all I can say is try to leave room or come back just for those. Can't wait to go back! Bravo!!!
a rip-off; can do much better for the money

An out of town friend made the reservation and although I had reservations, three of us had an overpriced dinner here the other night. Decor is lovely - large room, nicely lit, art, wonderful lighting, comfortable. The waitress helped us figure out the menu, suggesting how to order from the various appetizers, main dishes and side dishes. We went for two orders of the short ribs and picked a fish, able to order it without hazelnut oil and to get the creme fraiche on the side. She delivered a small piece of fish, which we cut into three tapa-sized portions. Side dishes are around $15 and are tiny so you spend a fortune. Nothing was delicious, just okay. Everything was overpriced, including wine, which went for several dollars a glass higher than it would elsewhere. Dessert was okay, not memorable. I asked the waitress if she felt awkward bringing that tiny $30 piece of fish to the table (main courses come alone) and she couldn't even smile.
A cliché, but I loved it!

It may be a cliché, but Craft provides a top New York dining experience. The food is relentlessly delicious on all fronts. My meal followed a perfect arc: crisp salad, rich comfort food side dishes (try the potatoes au gratin and prepare to smile), perfectly seasoned fish, lovely wine, and a wonderful dessert (DO try the homemade ice creams). The lighting was warm, my waiter was cute and friendly, my meal was long and fulfilling...in short the perfect dining experience. Of course the catch of communally ordering food in sections may strike some as gimmicky, and the difficultly of getting a reservation is frustrating, both drawbacks pale in comparison to the excellent food and service.

The dinner was so great, We (2 people) ordered steak and lobster for main, and potato gratin, mushroom & onion for side dish. T As others says, the food was simple and very delicious. I love the idea that i can choose the side. They were so good. However, adding side dish makes the food expensive. I love the food a lot but am not comfortable w/ the price. If the price is lower, i will go there more often. For dessert, we ordered chocolate tart, banana and vanilla icecream. they were so good. The decor was not special. it was ok, it looks better for family.

Not much to add to the praise already heaped on this excellent restaurant -- just wanted to recreate my last meal, as a guide to the undecided: Braised Short Ribs Roasted Carrots Braised Leeks Gratin Potato Arugula Salad Scallops Roasted Hedgehog Mushrooms Doughnuts Pain Perdue, w/ Caramel Sauce. I GL Grenache, 1 GL Cab. Franc. Eat this meal, and dance all the way home.

Great food, in particular the short ribs, kobe steak, quail,the mushroom side dish. All the desserts are good. Been there 3 times in 5 months & it was an enjoyable experience every time. Decor and ambiance are wonderful.Do go!

Amazing food: simple and so tasteful. Perfect service and decor. I have been there at least 10 times and go there with incredible pleasure
