Crave is a restaurant I really wanted to like, but somehow the experience fell short. The staff is very friendly and attentive. More importantly, the menu was pulled together with such care that it gave me the impression that I was in a space and among people that care deeply about food in all its forms (object of consumption, art, fulfillment, and conversation piece.). In the end, however, the experimental nature of the food limited my ability to love the experience. The menu was full of essences and foams. While the more traditional pieces were very good (I had a very nice salmon filet and the pate appetizer was scrumptiously rich and tasty), most of my side foams and essences were either unsatisfying (foam is ultimately cold air) or worse, gross tasting. Given the restaurant and staffs care with their food and with me as a patron, I would go back and try again. But I'm not yet in love (or even in like).
