Dont be fooled. the nice decor is a fantastic veneer for the lousiest service my wife and I have experienced at a "fine" manhattan restaurant (we eat out several times a week). We were seated, told kitchen was still open, ordered, and then proceeded to wait and wait and wait. the waiter told us 3 times our food was being plated and would be out in "60 seconds". 50 minutes later, the owner tells us the kitchen closed and hadn't even accepted the order and NO FOOD was being cooked!!! ie, the waiter was lying, let alone completely asleep on the job, and disappeared, we were left starving (my wife is 8 months pregnant) and the owner "didn't know what to say other than that nothing had been cooked". How about "pls come back and dine with us on the house". that would have been customer service, but clearly no one knew what the term means. the staff was too busy tasting wines with their friends. we were really disappointed given the nice decor and feel to the place, but all that means nothing with pathetic customer service.

The wine list and the service at Cru are the best i have experienced in a long time. The staff is extraordinarily attentive. And, the wine list at both the top and bottom of the price range is phenomenal. The food was great. Comparable to any of the City's best. Cant wait to return.

I have been to Cru three times since its opening in September and each experience has been grand! The wines offered by the glass and by the bottle were sublime and, following the advice of the server, paired wonderfully with the food. Each course was innovative and delicious. The fish and pasta dishes were extraordinary and unlike what I've found in other upscale restaurants. (I don't eat meat so I didn't try the meat dishes). The desserts were creative, unique and fabulous. The entire staff is attentive and knowledgeable.

We had the most wonderful experience in a restaurant ever. The decor was very elegant yet comfortable. The service was paced just right and very effecient. The wine list was very extensive and reasonably priced. The food was the highlight of the evening. There were 8 of us, each ordering something different and every one thought thier dish was the greatest thing they had ever eaten! Thank You Cru for an extremely memorable evening!

I am not intimidated by a double phone book sized wine list. But it is very unremarkable in the under $60 bottle category. And a wine-driven restaurant should never serve good wine by the glass in those clunky bar glasses. Sadly, I found the attitude of the staff absolutely surly and condescending. The fellow at the host stand chided me for being late (true or not, not acceptable behavior). The waiter sneered (literally!) when I requested a different table and the manager was unresponsive when we sent back our impossibly salty and inedible food. I thought this sort of place died in the '80s. An unpleasant and unfortunate experience. I'm going back to Le Bernardin - that's a real restaurant.
