Worst Service Ever

I went there for brunch with 7 girlfriends recently and was treated to the worst service ever. We were the first ones in the restaurant and yet it took them about 45 minutes to get food out to us. The waiter spilled a mimosa on my friend's head. It went down her back and on her wool jacket. We went to the washroom for about 10 minutes to clean her up. When we came back our food was cold. The restaurant made no effort to reheat our food, made no effort to get her jacket cleaned, merely offered to pay for the dry cleaning and take her meal off the bill. Yet, when the bill came the first time, there was only a $20 credit for dry cleaning. Her meal was still on it as was the spilled mimosa! The manager never once came by to apologize though we could see him clearly. We even walked by him on the way out and he didn't ever look up. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. Seeing as there are so many other wonderful restaurants in the city to enjoy, why come here??

great place for the party

My friends booked a Cub Room for my surprise-bithday party. The music, food and serves is top of the line, especialy deserts. My guest and I had so much fun that we are defanatly coming back.

my hasband and i celebrated our 25 years aniversary there. we reserved a Chefs Table for fifteen people. in the middle of the table was a small elegant vase with fresh roses. the service and food was great. waiters are pleasent and polite. we also received a complimentary bottle of wine. our grandson will turn five this november, and we already booked a cub room for a birhday.

The atmosphere is lovely at this restaurant and the food and drinks were very nice. But the service is a joke. First, a waitress spilled a glass of water all over me. I honestly didn't get mad about this, mistakes happen. But the waitress barely apologized, just threw some napkins at me and never came back. I really could have forgotten about this if the waitress who actually served us wasn't so bad as well. Even though the restaurant wasn't that crowded, she basically ignored us and stood about 10 feet away at the bar chatting and drinking coffee. I had to wave her over any time we wanted to order anything. She never brought us bread, or asked if we needed anything. After the main course, we waited 1/2 an hour and finally I waved her over. She asked if we needed something and I said, "Perhaps you have a desert menu?" It's a shame the service is so bad at this restaurant because everything else is very nice. But why spend over $100 to be treated badly?

This restaurant has serious problems...we made our reservation on the fact that The Cub Room participated in the extended Restaurant Week, and when we asked for the RW menu, it was declined by our hostess and said they were not participating. In addition, the servers do not know the difference b/w seared or terrine foie gras - the steak was inconsistent and sloppy - the wine was day-old. The server was sweet, but uninformed. And, by the way, the next day, I called to speak to the manager to explain our experience and he had no real apology or sympathies to our experience And he did in fact say they WERE participating in RW. WORST meal since coming to NY 1 yr ago.

strange aromas

I have eaten here before and have eaten several times at City Hall. I was therefore, unprepared for the odor of a. Either floor wax or b. escaping gas that greeted us on being seated at The Cub Room the other evening. I had to use my nebulizer (asthmatic) immediately and leave. The Maitre De's comments were "I told them something was wrong with the gas fireplace". Not acceptable, makes you wonder if anything is wrong in the kitchen.
