Cucina di Pesce..TERRIBILE!

  • No, I would not go back!

So, I am an Italian (from Rome) living in NYC for a few years now. I am confident I can distinguish between good and bad Italian food, having tried the majority of regional Italian cuisines and being myself a good cook. No joking, this was among the worst 2/3 Italian (or whatever you want to call the food) dining experiences I have ever had in America. The pasta was served in a way I can only imagine you see at Olive Garden or some other Americanized version of Italian restaurant. I always stay away from those places but this time I fell right into one. Basically, the seafood was cooked separately from the linguine (please don't call them linguini or fettucini...that's just wrong spelling) which were served with a bunch of garlic on the side. Apart from the seafood that was simply poor quality, nobody in Italy would serve pasta like this and the reason is that you want the past to absorb the flavor of the seafood. This is the most basic thing that the typical bad Italian American restaurants get wrong. Chef at Cucina di Pesce let me explain this to you: 1) You first cook the pasta (which you drain a couple of minutes before is al dente, keeping some of the water in the pot, 2) You mix the pasta, the water and condiment, sauce or whatever you want to dress the past with 3) You cook a couple of more minutes until the pasta is perfectly cooked and flavored. IT"S THAT SIMPLE! Questo posto e' TERRIBILE!

POS from the get go. Bartender more interested in chatting with SATC ladies at the bar. Waitstaff in white shirts and black ties. Woo Hoo. Tell me- if someone asks for a steak that is on the menu- but is game enough to go with your special recommendation of essentially a seafood jambalaya- HOW IS IT IMPOSSIBLE TO NOT COOK IT PROPERLY. Rubber squid, raw fish, indescript clams and mussels. PS- Don't look offended when I send it back to your ass backwards kitchen. Thanks. Additionally- I have really never written a place up badly- the time I take to write about something is usually quite positive- but this was just so wretched. I had to do it. Prime candidate for Kitchen Nightmares. What is terrible is that I've eaten here in the past- and it was quite alright. I don't know what has gone wrong.

Perfect Storm... yes, it was exactly how it was this afternoon... Was in mood for neither working overtime nor going home. Thus, me and our colleges decided to hang out for some nice cool beers and good food. Quite a large group of people, 7 of us, needed at least some decently big space to fit us in in East Village, and we landed at Cucina Di Pesce on 4th Street, the theater district known as such attractions for up-close play lovers. AND everything unfolded just like a play on the stage as soon as we walked in.. . A.K., our waiting staff, was bringing nothing but joy to the table. We had Fried Calamari with cold draft beer of Blue Moon to start our dinner. The bread with their home made dipping sauce was served to comfort our empty stomach right away. The daily special of Brochette with home made mozzarella cheese, herbs and tomato on top took my breath away! We ordered all different dishes to share, nonetheless, A.K. was never without smile to accommodate the difficult demands by these 7 of us, SEVEN(!) different preferences in foods! When A. K. brought us the plate of its signature desserts at the end of dinner, we all dropped our jaws... Tiramisu in that huge glass where we could see all the delicate layers of it, Mocca-Cheese Cake, Brownie with scoop of ice cream accompanied by cappuccinos and coffees... Thanks Cucina and A.K.! We will definitely come back, especially where there is 'Perfect Storm' ^^ if you know what I mean!!!!

Party of six. Received great service. We reserved online but apparently didn't go through. Called a few hours before we arrived to confirm, they corrected it and put us on list. Two of our party were running late, the graciously waited the 20-30 minutes until taking our order. Appetizers included We had salads, fried ravioli, stuffed mushrooms, clams. My seafood fettucini very good, wife had 16 oz medium rare strip steak - not one person complained of food and I got compliments on my choice of restaurant.

undoubtedly one of the worst restaurants i have ever eaten at. the pasta was too cheesy, the seafood skewers tasteless. service is ok but the place is too loud. i have no idea why people go here.

I and my bf went to Cucina di Pesce for dinner last weekend. It's first time to have a dinner at their garden. The garden looked so lovely, there were beautiful lighting harmonized with the ivy bounded itself about a tree. We started with fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, blue moon draft beer(we are real fan of beer). They were all excellent. stuffed mushrooms with mozzarella was top appetizer what I ever had. I had seafood lasagna as a main dish, it's so yummy. Their homemade pasta was one of the best point which Cucina have. Although this place was so busy, their service was perfectly friendly and attentive. Price was very reasonable..that is to say, it was inexpensive. I would be back!!!

Last Saturday, we (12 people) had a graduation dinner here. We made reservation so that we could go in without any waiting time. Many people kept the line for their order. We went in back room and started with sandyle. Its flavor was good and tasty. I ordered Fried Calamari for appetizer and Seafood Lasagna as main entree. Their homemade pasta was very yummy and they had notable winelist. But I like beer so draft blue moon was great for me:(. Atmosphere was so romantic. Beautiful chandelier and paintings on the wall, in addition I saw the garden having pretty scene. I hopely will get a table next time there. We took many pictures here. Although cucina was full of crowd, our server was very friendly and very helpful.... And price was very cheap. That's why I am writing a reivew for this restaurant..

My party of two went on a Saturday night, and we ordered the penne pomodoro and lasagna. The sauce was tasteless and the pasta was not al dente. It took forever for everything (food, bill) to come, even though the restaurant was half empty. I came because of the good reviews here, but I disagree with all of them. The only good thing about this place is that it's cheap, but I would never return.

I went there for family dinner. I made a reservation for dinner. We had 10 api and 6 entrees. They were all good. The manager led us have a great time. It was impressed. It means service was excellent. Price was very reasonable. I want to give more points but that's all what I can do now. Pros: Try their homemade pasta and seafood...it's great point of Cucina. Before you go, check their website. You will get good tip in their place.
