Went there last Friday with a few friends -some from Italy and some from Brazil - and the restaurant tried to cheat on me charging the "gratuity" twice. They were probably counting on the fact that we were tourists and had had two bottles of wine... did not work for them. Besides, the food is not really good and certainly not worth the price they charge for it. Another one of those places they treat you as if you were an imbecil and they are doing you a favor. Disgusting.

Food is nothing special, so why is it over-priced? Perhaps to catch a glimpse of some movie star? Not worth it and not going back. It's an overrated fad place. Try Demarco's around the corner on Houston...delicious and fair-proced. An off-shoot of DiFara's Pizzeria (rated #1 in New York from Midwood, Brooklyn.

I ate here with three foreign friends, invited in by the seemingly charming terrace. This place is anything but charming. Our server tried to take advantage of my foreign guests from the moment we walked in the door, bullying us to pay more and more. My pasta dish tasted like it had come out of the freezer, revived only by too much melted butter. Yuck! The wine list was over priced. When we received our bill, the server had considerably over-charged us for our bottle of wine and had the gall to argue with us when we asked him to credit us for the difference. This place is terrible!

One of the best lunches I've ever had! Yes, I was surrounded by some of the media elite, but that fine by me. If was virtually a feast, with an array of italian goodies of all kinds, and everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. The dessert were rich and the service/ambiance of the place was top-notch.
I definitely reccomend for business meeting (expense accounts) and I'd love/will strive to go back some time.

It's rare that I really don't like a place but it happens sometime. Pros: Food was not bad but a bit pricey.
Cons: Terrible service. I usually don't like when a restaurant/club already includes the tip, especially when they leave some empty spaces to get you to pay it twice (cheap trick that certainly works when the customer is drunk) but I got really upset when I saw that the tips percentage on the bill were wrong.

I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Da Silvano, from beginning to end. The scene was a swarm of yuppie bankers, interspersed with their "femme-bot" arm candy - hardly a romantic setting. The menu and drink list was horrifically overpriced: $60 for a carafe of sangria that could have been Hawaiian Punch; $20 for frozen calamari and cocktail sauce; $45 for Gnocchi. Are they kidding?? The restroom resembled that of a frat house - paper on the floor, over-flowing toilet. And the kicker - when we received our bill, the prices were all higher than what was stated on the menu. The only enjoyable part of the evening was actually the food. My dish was quite delicious, as were others'. And our waiter, aside from his grossly obvious push on the over-priced specials, was agreeable in correcting the bill. Overall, I won't be returning to Da Silvano, nor would I recommend it, unless you are in the mood for blowing money and leaving in a bad mood.

I am an out of town professional - reputable in my community, but apparently a Nobody to Silvano and his crew. My husband and I went to Dasilvano's for a much needed romantic dinner and were disappointed by the wait staff who kept rushing us through the dinner. Apparently, 7pm to 10pm on a Satnite is a really popular timeslot and unless you are a somebody you best eat your grub and get moving - Make room for the next body! At first I thought our waiter was attentive, but then he kept trying to take our plates - when we werent done! He remarked that it would start getting busy soon- translation: get eating folks - we need to get you out of here to make room for more important peeps. Meanwhile at the table next to us, a loud and boisterous PR group was getting rained on with love - wine, free Dasilvano's cookbooks and all the love you can imagine! Ahhhhh..the good life. I wont go back - until I am famous - But the food was good and the ambience was nice - dark, dim and romantic - that is if you dont mind a pushy waiter up your butt.

The waitstaff is pretty brutal and the food isn't worth the money. I think people probably only go for the name recognition, and if that's what you want, go somewhere that has a name and will please your tummy.
