It's rare that I really don't like a place but it happens sometime. Pros: Food was not bad but a bit pricey. Cons: Terrible service. I usually don't like when a restaurant/club already includes the tip, especially when they leave some empty spaces to get you to pay it twice (cheap trick that certainly works when the customer is drunk) but I got really upset when I saw that the tips percentage on the bill were wrong.

I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Da Silvano, from beginning to end. The scene was a swarm of yuppie bankers, interspersed with their "femme-bot" arm candy - hardly a romantic setting. The menu and drink list was horrifically overpriced: $60 for a carafe of sangria that could have been Hawaiian Punch; $20 for frozen calamari and cocktail sauce; $45 for Gnocchi. Are they kidding?? The restroom resembled that of a frat house - paper on the floor, over-flowing toilet. And the kicker - when we received our bill, the prices were all higher than what was stated on the menu. The only enjoyable part of the evening was actually the food. My dish was quite delicious, as were others'. And our waiter, aside from his grossly obvious push on the over-priced specials, was agreeable in correcting the bill. Overall, I won't be returning to Da Silvano, nor would I recommend it, unless you are in the mood for blowing money and leaving in a bad mood.

I am an out of town professional - reputable in my community, but apparently a Nobody to Silvano and his crew. My husband and I went to Dasilvano's for a much needed romantic dinner and were disappointed by the wait staff who kept rushing us through the dinner. Apparently, 7pm to 10pm on a Satnite is a really popular timeslot and unless you are a somebody you best eat your grub and get moving - Make room for the next body! At first I thought our waiter was attentive, but then he kept trying to take our plates - when we werent done! He remarked that it would start getting busy soon- translation: get eating folks - we need to get you out of here to make room for more important peeps. Meanwhile at the table next to us, a loud and boisterous PR group was getting rained on with love - wine, free Dasilvano's cookbooks and all the love you can imagine! Ahhhhh..the good life. I wont go back - until I am famous - But the food was good and the ambience was nice - dark, dim and romantic - that is if you dont mind a pushy waiter up your butt.

The waitstaff is pretty brutal and the food isn't worth the money. I think people probably only go for the name recognition, and if that's what you want, go somewhere that has a name and will please your tummy.

The moment we looked at the wine list I knew we'd be in for a ripoff: the cheapest white, a very simple Pinot Grigio I had seen for $10 in stores, was listed at $55 here. The food was disappointing also. The coniglio was dry and flavorless, the quail appetizer was below average, the only acceptable dish was the fried carciofi appetizer. Horrible service: they had switched to handhelds but came back twice to ask for our orders again because "something went wrong". In fact, everything went wrong at that restaurant. Ridiculously overpriced for what they offer.

I took some out-of-town friends and they loved it. It was their favorite of all the places I took them to eat. Food was superb and the waiters spoke Italian to my Calabrese friends.

Great experience always. The cheery owner, and waitstaff make you feel like you have taken a vacation to Italy, As they are yelling and joking back & forth in italian. Not to forget the pasta is so fresh.

The food was nothing special, below average, but the service was horrible. The lasagna tasted just like something from the frozen food section of your grocery store. The tiramisu was lousy. However, it is the extremely rude and arrogant behavior of Silvano himself that really makes one furious. It is quite disappointing to be insulted by the drunk owner especially after you have just paid a $400 bill. There are so many glorious NY restaurants...don't waste your time and money for food that tastes like a frozen Stoffer's entree and is served by someone that has no idea what real hospitality should be.

Alway great authentic Italian greats! I love the pork shoulder and gnocchi with pesto! Panzanella salad as well as the Osso Bucco.

I can't complain about the food and service...both were excellent when I dined there. You know what the problem is with this place? It is overhyped...If you were to look at overall cost/quality of food and atmosphere it's really apparent that you can find better Italian food in NYC. This place is for bragging rights only...don't expect to be super impressed!
