The advertising makes this place look much bigger and better then what you will actually experience. There should at least be girls in daisy dukes to give it atmosphere. You are one your own when you order as no one will tell you what to try. Food ws just so so...not real BBQ and the dining area is very small and compact....if you have nothing better to do...try it out....but do not go out of your way for Daisy May.

After seeing Daisy May's featured in Oprah and GMA, I decided to take my parents there when they came to visit from Virginia. BIG MISTAKE. The food had been sitting out for a while and was very dry and tasteless. The only thing respectable about Daisy May's was the sweet tea which came in a Mason Jar and was actually very good.

Having come from NC about eight years ago, I was more than a little dismayed at the state of local BBQ. Nothing even came close to the quality of what I was used to (and this is from someone who maps roadtrips around renowned southern BBQ places). But then things changed, and I'd have to say that the arrival of Daisy May's and Blue Smoke have turned that around 180 (Dinosaur and Rack and Soul more recently). Ignore R&R's admonitions about goopy sides -- APL makes some of the best creamed spinach around (creamy and sweet without the metallic taste that sometimes you find in greens). The other sides are nearly as good and I love the biscuits (although he should throttle back a bit on the sweetness in the yams). Great rubs, and he has an interesting take on Carolina pulled pork. It's juicier than what you'd find down south, but the moisture works to accentuate the smoky flavor.

If Daisy Mays is the best BBQ that NYC can muster I should definitely be on Prozac. I find it difficult to believe all the gushing reviews. My wife and I ordered from Daisy May's 6 months after they opened. The food was mediocre at best. the chicken was dry and tasteless, the ribs were eh! Not to mention the $50.00 minimum delivery order! The only high point from my prospective was the pulled pork, but my wife disagrees.

After reading about this place in several newspapers I wanted to try the BBQ but never found myself "Uptown" then what did my eyes behold a food cart on Wall Street from Daisy May's. I had the pulled pork and it was delicious, I can't wait to go back for the beef. I wish they had the ribs!
