Had an enjoyable brunch with family. Very nice food, friendly and warm service, nice setting and moderate prices. Strongly recommend it. We went at a quite time of the day, place was only 1/3 to 1/2 full. Not sure how loud it gets when it is full; if loud may not be perfect for a business meeting, but certainly a lively place for friends and family.

Went with freinds for brunch and had the wrong order not once but three times. Left 12% tip and was confronted by staff stating that we should pay full 20% as we ate really slow and took up space. Elected not to answer and was cursed at by the staff and then supported by the manager/owner. Disgusting!

Had a fantastic time, the decor and atmosphere offer a respite from the busy world outside and the food makes you never want to leave. We had an artichoke salad for starters and for mains we indulged ourserlves to a great fish and seafood brochette, and a fantastic steak with pepper sauce. it is a gem that you rarely come across outside france. definitely worth a visit. plus... it's not everyday that you get to eat next to david bowie!

Recently had a mystical dinner experience at DANAL. The decor (think rustic french country house), the wait staff (headed by the "unflappable franz"--ask for him), the food, the wine list are all TO DIE FOR. The interior radiates of a pervading aura, an inner warmth. one feels immediately comforted by the unpretentious setting. Best for a great date, a night with girlfriends, or even a special party or event, where the surroundings transform even the unwieldiest of groups into an intimate get-together. The food is as delicious as the decor, running the gamut from provencal to a fusion of cuisines: never predictable, this restaurant will seduce even the most jaded of diners.

It is becoming difficult to find a restaurant that puts aside the big-city lights in Manhattan. Had a whimsical evening at Danal. The decor makes you feel right at home and very comfortable. The food was excellent. However, beyond the food it was the service and atmosphere which will leave a lasting impression. Even the waiter, a lovely fellow named Franz, while offering his expertise on what to select from the menu to accompany dishes, also felt like a long-lost friend by the end of the meal. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and plan on returning in the near future!

Cozy and quaint country french restaurant tucked into a block that really needed a good place to eat. The food was wholesome and rich, just what we wanted on a cold winter day. Excellent tea selection, served loose and in a big pot. Service was friendly but slow, especially when we needed the check. Prices were higher than I expected...entrees ran in the $20s and the overall bill for two was $80 for two, without drinks or dessert, which took away a bit from the quaintness. Overall, I was very pleased.

If you want to meet a few friends and enjoy a quick lunch in a pretty setting- it's great - especially if your friends are 201's and 203's. Firstly they will ooh and ahh over the french country decor as they walk down into this rustic feminine setting. It's noisy but the acoustics will allow you to catch up. If you're dieting get a scallop or shrimp salad garnished with citrus; if you're in the mood to workout your pancreas - go for the french toast croissant. The brusque staff is warm and helpful, but you know they really want to turn the table, which is great because your friends probobly want to get in a little shopping.
