I loved the frogs leg appetizer(always wanted to try it).Other appetizers and little extras they brought to the table were excellent.The 2 fish main courses we ordered were very bland and definitely not worthy of this price.That would be my only complaint.Was very expensive,about 250$ for 2 with a couple drinks ,tax and tip

We visited the restaurant on a monday evening 1800 local time (not a regular european experience). We were welcomed in a very professionally manner and escorted to our table. From that moment on I can only say that the dining experience was stellar. Excellent service (without being all over us), very good food (a bit traditional, but very, very well presented and one can tell here is real star at work). A specific item to mention is the winelist; of course there are the obvious big names (appropriately priced big) but we were guided by the sommelier to a americian white wine in "cote du Rhone style" : a true diamond. Overall very much recommended, and relatively speaking appropriately priced.

On 10.15.05 we went to New York on a Gastronomic Tour. The restaurants were: Bouley,La Grenouille,Cafe Boulud,Gotham,Per Se, ,Aureole, Cafe Gray, Gramercy Tavern, Daniel, Perry St., Danube and Asiate. The intro. sets the grounds for our reviews .Daniel Boulud...NO DOUBT ..along with Kunz,Keller, Bouley,JJV...are the "crema y nata" ..the very best chefs in NY when it comes to the fine cuisine that we love. Our overall dining experience WAS NOT up to DANIEL’s standards...A not-so-nice Pascal that was looking distand,tight,tired ??? ... a some kind-NEW sommelier did not look helpfull,until we decide to paire that night recipes with our wines seleccions: Taittinger Comte de Champagne to start the evening, a Beaune Clos de Mouches blanc, a perfect Clos de Tart ‘99...and a Banyuls for desserts... on the desserts we wait for a long time. ... The bottom line: We did not feel “pamper”or “soigné” at all! as we felt at Café Boulud with Brett. We hope that DB can correct this observations for our next visit...

The food was excellent, though the most touted (and by far, most expensive) part of our meal, the truffle risotto, was the most disappointing, too salty. The meat dishes, in particular, were prepared impeccably. The atmosphere is elegant, beautiful and very formal, it is the Upper East Side afterall. The formality of the atmosphere was stereotypically complimented by the rather snooty service. I got the impression at the onset they figured us for bumpkins. My suspicions were confirmed when we got the check and the "suggested" tip was written in for us. This was a first for us for this caliber of restaurant (in fact, for any caliber), and if not mildly offensive, it was terribly unprofessional. But, all in all, the food was able to win us over.

Daniel was A Great Dining Experience. The Decor Was Very Elegant And Clean. The Food was Perfect And Delicious. Enjoyed Everything About The Experience. Everything was Excellent Until The End Of Our Meal when we Had to Wait 30 Minutes For Our Waiter To Take Our Dessert Order. Although The Salted Caramel Ice Cream was the Best We Have ever Tasted.

Dont forget to put on your pearls, tease your hair into a nice "up-do" and pretend to be terribly posh for the night. It's a nice treat, but not for the faint hearted!

This is a place to go to be coddled, attended to and to come away feeling guilty for having over-indulged. It's fastidious service with waiters waiting to wait, carefully prepared and presented French dishes...nothing simple. This is special, truly delightful - with little dishes of freebies tossed in between the more expensive three-course meal. Cannot fault it. Cannot afford it. Few can. Those who do can expect to be recognized and coddled.

Daniel Boulud is an angel...he took us on a tour of hte kitchen, we had nice seats in the best part of the restaurant (te center section rather than the raised periphery), wonderful grande luxe food. And yet...when I left I wished that the portions hadn't been so preciously small and the bill so stratospheric. Daniel is beloved for luxe dining, but the pricing really stretches crdibility at times.

Restaurant lives up to its reputation. Great food. Nice tasting menu. Wander if it is just a rumor that there are cameras in the dining room which the chef monitors. Decor was uptight
