If you want to experience the Best of Indian food, go for Dawat. Whenever i visit NewYork, this is my most favourite place to visit. I highly recommend to try their : Chicken Tikka Masala, Samosa ( Though all Samosas are good, but be sure to get Vegetable Samosa and Keema Samosa ). The Service is Very Good, they are always very nice. If you are unable to decide what to get, order "Chicken Tikka Masala"..... and enjoy worlds most tasty chicken.... Only visit if you want the most tastiest indian foods ;-) .... You will want to go again i Promise....

best Indian food I've ever had in my live. I admit this was the first and only Indian restaurant I've been to in New York. However I've eaten at several high-end Indian restaurants in London, almost all Indian restaurants in Chicago, and some in other major U.S. cities as well. The food was perfectly cooked and spiced and I can't imagine it tasting any better. Service was so-so and prices were very high. We will be back.

I have eaten at many different indian restaurants all over the world- india, sri lanka, singapore, hong kong, london, all over the US; and still feel that Dawat is the best in the world. I recommend that if you can tolerate the spices and flavors, please request that the food be prepared for the palate that can handle flavor. This restaurant is not for the "boring."

The food is great here, but the service is the real kicker. Before dinner, we sat at the bar and I ordered a drink that apparently isn't commonly requested at Indian restaurants--a mojito. The bartender didn't know how to make it, but he went somewhere and found out...complete with the mortar, pestle and mint! The mojito didn't turn out that great, but the effort made it significantly sweeter. But enough about the drinks. The food was great, too. We had a hard time deciding what to get from the extensive menu. The bhaja, dahl aloo poori, matter paneer and the ever favorite chicken tikka masala were all wonderful. My only regret is that we were too full to sample the desserts.
