There are two reasons to dine here in this order: 1) the view 2) the steak. If you come for any other reason you will be disappointed. Del Frisco is on the ground floor of a 6th-Avenue office tower, set back from the avenue, in an area where the lobby has been built to accommodate the restaurant. There are enormous, floor-to-ceiling windows (20-feet tall?) that look out across 6th Ave and 48th St. offering a spectacular view of mighty skyscrapers that could impress even the most jaded New Yorker. And it did. In this visit, for lunch my 23-year-old daughter had a steak salad which included a few over-dressed wilted leaves of mesclun over which sat slices of melt-in-your-mouth steak. There was not a morsel left on her plate. I, however, ordered the Greek Farmers Salad with chicken. This was a large plate of standard Greek salad ingredients like chunks of tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, feta cheese, kalamata olives, and four small strips of desiccated, practically inedible chicken. If we were not on a tight return-to-work schedule I would have sent it back. So, if you are not coming for that view, and someone in your group may not order steak, there are some wonderful steakhouse alternatives in New York where you will not have send anything back.

This was my girlfriend's favorite restaurant when we met. She had been to the one in Dallas several times and loved it. She'd also been to the one in midtown, so I've been there twice with her. First time was ok actually except for my main course (filet medallions I believe it was called). Three small slabs of beef with different types of sauce. Meat was dry and sauces relatively flavorless. Of course, we paid several hundred dollars for dinner. Second time was recently. We sat upstairs this time. Service was sub par. Waiter knowledgless and had an attitude. All the small touches were missing. Served drinks without stirrers, had to wait long for bread. Finally main course arrived. I had the 16oz ribeye. TERRIBLE CUT OF MEAT. Could eat only a small piece of it. We had plans to go to a birthday party afterwards so i didnt send it back. We shared the potatoes which were undercooked. The others in my party shared a large (I think new york strip) steak. They brought it to the table pre-sliced! On a positive note, the others shared crabcakes and said they were excellent. The place is overrated and overpriced. The atmosphere is noisy and cold. Never again.
