We wer seated right away with reservations. Place is very Large, Open, and Elegant. Not the coolest Italian place (Ilike them small and Rustic) but very nice. You know what you are walking into... A highly rated, expensive Italian meal. Food was perfect. Many people on staff to cater to all needs. Although the service was too quick and we were eating meal upon meal with no time to take a sip of wine in between courses. Other than that it is worth a try once . Whether you go back is up to you but know you will get a AWESOME italian meal.

Couldn't agree more with Platt's review. The food was very good (though portions too small) but it is just not a convincing 4 star environment. The service is fussy but somehow not particularly helpful. The sommelier was exactly what they are supposed not to be: rushed, not correctly reading (or intentionally ignoring) my cues on price, not explanatory, just pointing out random bottles in a range I already explained was too high. The waiter -- to be blunt -- couldn't speak English very clearly and really just seemed like a very uxurious bus boy. It's as if Batali got the impression that in order to create a 4 star experience, he needed to drain everyone and everything of personality -- so long as the bathroom signs (absurdly) are in Italian as well as English. It kind of feels like Vegas in there. I'd much rather cram in at Lupa, unbutton my collar and just have a great meal and a good time.

Not cheap by any means, but the food! I had the tasting menu and every course was sublime. Awesome tableside zabaglione! Great, if expensive all Italian wine list. Decor is incredible.

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and had one of the best meals of my life. Im not usually the type to drop almost a grand on a meal for 2 but between the impeccable wine selection by sommelier and 3 courses of heaven id say it was actually a good value! I did lamb and lamb for appetizer and main course and it was cooked to perfection and the memory of it makes me salivate. There`s not much that these guys don`t do amazingly but Id say sit against the far wall and make a night of it with someone special. Maybe some people can eat here every day but its a once a year type for me (unless on someone else's tab ;).

The food of the gods at Del Posto is worth the price....the service is impeccable....the decor gorgeous....a plus was having Lydia serve us our intermezzo...she personally supervised all the service going on in her restaurant...another plus was meeting Mario and Emeril at the bar...charming,witty and very, very personable....

I'm without words. I do not know where to begin when I laude Del Posto. Everything was perfect and on point. The suckling pig ravioli was divine, the califlower sfomato titilating and the Apician duck...my mouth is water as I write this. The service is remarkable and we have a very strong waiter who sort of controlled what we ordered making sure everything complimented each other.

I went to Del Posto for my bosses 50th birthday. I have to say that the entire experience was spectacular. From the decor, to the service and of course the food. I cannot say enough about the food. We ordered the two pasta tasting for the table, both were outstanding. I had the pork chop, which tasted like heaven. Finally, for desert, the chocolate souffle......pure chocolate bliss. Some restaurants do not live up to the hype, this one does. Just don't forget to bring your wallet!

I chose this restaurant for our department and what an excellent choice I made. The service was great, the food was absolutely delectable. The decor is beautiful, what a treat this was. My porkchop was cooked to perfection and so tasty, I wanted more! My co-workers all loved it! Thank you to everyone for making this a great experience!!

This is the only place in New York where it is not crowded and I dont have to squeeze myself through tables and tables of people, and where waiters bump each other going around tables. The tables were not squeezed together like guests were cockroaches and it actually seemed like there more waiters than guests! The food is superb. I ate the Ribeye steak for 2 and it was perfectly cooked, tender and extremely tasty. I also ate the pasta with the dungeness crab with it and it was very aromatic and had very strong flavor with it. The piece of crab in the pasta was fairly good sized and was very soft. This restaurant is definitely worth every penny and going back to.
