Let me start off by saying we both enjoyed the service and our two pasta tasting appetizers. My wife also enjoyed the Lobster as her main course. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my main course, I had the Dover Sole. The portion was very small , the fish was rubbery and it had no taste, it was terrible. To top it off, there were men sitting at a table next to us wearing jeans, sneakers and tee shirts. With the high level of pricing and service, I feel they should enforce their suggested dress code.
I picked this restaurant to celebrate a very special evening, but need less to say it was anything but special.

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and had one of the best meals of my life. Im not usually the type to drop almost a grand on a meal for 2 but between the impeccable wine selection by sommelier and 3 courses of heaven id say it was actually a good value! I did lamb and lamb for appetizer and main course and it was cooked to perfection and the memory of it makes me salivate. There`s not much that these guys don`t do amazingly but Id say sit against the far wall and make a night of it with someone special. Maybe some people can eat here every day but its a once a year type for me (unless on someone else's tab ;).

We wer seated right away with reservations. Place is very Large, Open, and Elegant. Not the coolest Italian place (Ilike them small and Rustic) but very nice. You know what you are walking into... A highly rated, expensive Italian meal. Food was perfect. Many people on staff to cater to all needs. Although the service was too quick and we were eating meal upon meal with no time to take a sip of wine in between courses. Other than that it is worth a try once . Whether you go back is up to you but know you will get a AWESOME italian meal.

My last experience at del posto was wonderful, but this time the service was beyond terrible and offensive. Our waiter made it clear that we weren't welcome and even asked: "Do you work nearby, how did you decide to just eat here? Do you eat out often? When was the last time you ate out?" Another waiter came by and offered to make a pizza ... He then disappeared after the first course and we were served by the bus boy the remainder of our dinner. What a disappointing evening.

Hi,
I've been to some of the best restaurants in Manhattan and was expecting the same quality and overall experience from this Mario Batali endeavor. Boy was I mistaken! Four people went in our party and the portions could have fed one with room for more. The portions were minuscule and enormously expensive for the quantity and quality. Honestly, the restaurant-made bread was the only saving grace...it was excellent and at least it made you feel like you've eaten something. How much could it possibly cost the restaurant to give a decent portion of pasta...one of the portions consisted of 3 pieces of pasta, THREE!!! For the prices, everyone should have received 2+ pounds. The flavors were adequate at best. Some concoctions seemed like something that would be made in a laboratory not in a fine resturaunt. This is really not a resturaunt I could recommend to anyone. Babbo was much better. If you want really good Italian in Manhattan, go to Il Mulino or even one of the thousands of much less expensive and infinitely better Italian joints throughout the city...avoid this one.

I chose this restaurant for our department and what an excellent choice I made. The service was great, the food was absolutely delectable. The decor is beautiful, what a treat this was. My porkchop was cooked to perfection and so tasty, I wanted more!
My co-workers all loved it!
Thank you to everyone for making this a great experience!!

Not cheap by any means, but the food! I had the tasting menu and every course was sublime. Awesome tableside zabaglione! Great, if expensive all Italian wine list. Decor is incredible.

My wife and I went to Del Posto for Restaurant Week lunch. From start to finish the service was so terrible and dismissive it single-handedly turned my stomach. The 200 word version: Offered a table barely within the restaurant and against a service area although many suitable ones were available; we weren't given a regular menu to choose from (although it was available and given to others at tables next to us); our waitress disappeared after our order and was never seen again; a drink order was never solicited through the entire meal. Afterwards I even penned a very courteous note to the GM, but 2 months later have never received the courtesy of a reply. Unless you're Brad and Angelina, with so many good NY restaurants to choose from don't chance feeling like a second class citizen here - skip this one. Sorry Mario, but food doesn't matter when you're treated horribly. This was one of the the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had.

I went to Del Posto for my bosses 50th birthday. I have to say that the entire experience was spectacular. From the decor, to the service and of course the food. I cannot say enough about the food. We ordered the two pasta tasting for the table, both were outstanding. I had the pork chop, which tasted like heaven. Finally, for desert, the chocolate souffle......pure chocolate bliss. Some restaurants do not live up to the hype, this one does. Just don't forget to bring your wallet!

I'm without words. I do not know where to begin when I laude Del Posto. Everything was perfect and on point. The suckling pig ravioli was divine, the califlower sfomato titilating and the Apician duck...my mouth is water as I write this.
The service is remarkable and we have a very strong waiter who sort of controlled what we ordered making sure everything complimented each other.
