Great place with amazing Risotto

Went here for dinner on a Friday night with a few friends. We couldn't make a reservation that evening but the host was very helpful in getting us seated quickly. The service team was great with nice recommendations on wine (huge list). The brushetta spreads were amazing. We had different dishes (all were great) and my risotto was exceptional. One small bathroom may be the only downside. Definitely a great find and better than most in the WV/ Meat Packing district.

Amazing Food - Go Late

Go to this place to taste amazing food. Avoid crowds, go late, enjoy unique food. Tired of years of restaurant eating? Go here. If the screw up your reservation or you find plastic in your food(other posts) , that sucks, but it happens everywhere. This place is special.

Showed up on time for my 8:00 reservation made weeks in advance for 3 people. Hostess said my table had their check, should be 10 minutes. During 30 minutes of graciously waiting I checked in twice with the hostess. Soon, soon is what I heard. Then I saw two parties that came after us get seated before my very eyes! When I protested the hostess said, "But they were a party of 4 and you are only 3." Maybe she isn't good at math but 3 people can sit at a four top....especially after they have been waiting what was now 45 minutes! I was aghast! I told her the behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable and left the restaurant. Within 15 minutes the manager called, apologizing profusely then told me my table had been cleared and would I please come back. While the manager saw the error of his employee's ways, it was too late by that point. Trust their reservationist at your own peril.

The pasta... A revelation.

The food is nothing short of brilliant. I began with the brussel sprouts while my friend ordered the octopus. The brussel sprouts were nearly catastrophically good in explosive flavor and inviting texture. The octopus was extremely fresh, very well prepared, and extraordinarily seasoned. The tagliatelle alla bolognese was the best pasta I have ever had, either in Italy or in the states. The pasta itself, was perfectly chewy and soft, while the sauce was a perfect dialogue between the savory nature of the meat and the sweet tartness of the fresh tomatoes.

This is not an exaggeration. We ordered the roast chicken, which came out with roasted skin on top so it took us a bite each to notice that the inside was completely raw. Not just pink, but just-pulled-it-out-of-the-fridge raw. Don't get yourself Salmonella. Stay away.

Perfect Dining Experience

Special thanks to our server, Matthew, who was friendly, accommodating and very attentive. The food was outstanding. We had the good fortune to be seated at the Chef's Table and got to watch to production. With a glass of wine, dinner for 2 was about $100 - more than we would normally pay, but an experience well worth it.

Idyllic italian in the Village

This was just what I would expect an italian restaurant in the Village to be. Everything was delicious. The pasta was fresh and flavorful. The menu choices were unique and delicious. The wine paired beautifully with the food. We came on a warn fall night when we could still enjoy dining al fresco- perfect!

Have loved Dell'anima since it opened, I go with my husband/friends every couple of weeks. Last night, in the middle of a piece of my ravioli, which we ordered for an appetizer, I found a shard of plastic/glass, I have no idea which. I found it by biting on it. When the waiter took it he did not apologize and the owner/manager (Joey) never came to the table to say anything. Service at this place has gone down hill. Where was Katherine last night? The place always runs well when she is around!

Great dinner; too noisy; brunch just OK

Finally had dinner and then brunch for first time in same week. Definitely salty, but not as bad as previous reviewer claimed. Dinner food was completely amazing - most unique Italian I've ever tasted in NY. However, I couldn't hear what my friends were shouting across the small table from me, due to decor materials making an echo chamber. Why are restauranteurs hostile to good acoustics? Prices reasonable for this quality food. Brunch is another story. The food was delicious, but over-rich and bearing NO relation to the uniqueness of dinner, and priced too high for what it is. It's one thing to pay $3.50 for a great cup of coffee, but $6 for a cup of over-branded tea ("Chelsea"?) is an insult to one's intelligence. Lastly, it's hard not to notice that most all the wait-staff & hosts are petite blond women in their late 20s. Such obvious discrimination is offensive and sloppy. Attractive appearance is a legitimate hiring criterion for such positions, but not when carried to the extreme of personal tastes/biases which include age, race, sex, body size and hair color.

A very unique little spot in West Village. Imagine, street parking in front on Sunday. Pleasant reception, professional waitstaff, varied menu selection and choice wines, execution above average. Don't miss it...
