I realize for us NY/NJ Italians, pizza from our favorite pizza place is a sacred thing. I revere places like Pepe's and Sally's in New Haven, CT, Sal's Pizza in Mamaroneck, NY, and Lisa's Pizza in Waldwick, NJ. That said, I have to say that Denino's in Staten Island is every bit as good as these "Cappelas di caminetto capolavoro" (Chapels of fireplace masterpieces)!!!! And in terms of their famous sausage pizza, famous because the head of maintenance at Staten Island High School referred me to not only this pizzeria but demanded I order the sausage pie.....Man was he right!!! I had taken my 77 yr old Mom back to Staten Island to visit her old high school; a trip she tells me made her year, and it was at SIHS that I learned of Denino's. Not only was the pizza awesome but the staff was very nice, especially the 20 something little waitress that was not only drop-dead gorgeous but reminded me of a young Natalie Wood (I told her that and of course that compliment went right over her head... "Natalie who?") I can't wait to go back for more sausage pizza.....and hopefully another lovely encounter with young 'Miss Wood"!!?? ;-)

Without a doubt, the best thin crust pizza in the world. While all the pies are great, if you want something truly unique, ask for a traditional Denino's white pie. There is no ricotta, just mozzarella, garlic, onions, oil and a hint of oregano (I think). Truly delicious. Fyi: no credit cards, they only take cash (though there is an ATM on premises)

this is hands down the best pizza in new york city. grimaldis, johns, lombardis, totonnos, difaras...they have NOTHING on this staten island original. Worth driving two hours for or even coming across the country for a taste of the most amazing pizza on this planet.

Ok, it's on Staten Island but let me tell you it is som of the best Pizza in NYC ( which then translates to the best in the world) The place is fun and the pizza comes out fast and perfect. No long wait like at John's The people are a pblast and it is over all very homey and fun. Try the Calimari Too. Take a date here and show off you knowledge of the other buroughs.

Truly a staple in the Pizza Nation that is NYC. It resonates with the locals as one of, if not THE best pizza, (especially thin crust) in all of Staten Island. Parking is hard to find since this place is packed, especially on Fridays. Get a pitcher or two and a couple of pies, (I recommend the Margarita pie) and you are sure to have a great time. Be careful though, one pie is NOT enough for four people. Trust me, it goes quick. In the warmer months, across the street Ralph's Italian Ices is open, if you're brave enough after indulging in all that pizza. One of my favorites.

I grew up outside NYC and I have eaten a lot of pizza in 47 yrs. Denino's is right up there with it's amazing flavors. The white pie is just pure heaven if you like onions and garlic (and who doesn't?) The eggplant pie is wonderful with crisp salty bits of eggplant that almost taste like meat. The crust is not the typical chewy NYC crust. It is brick oven but not overly burnt or fragile tasting. Even the mozzarella sticks were a cut above the norm. They seemed home made. Did I mention "yummy?"

I was listening to Leonard Lopate on wnyc 93.9 fm when they were discussing the best pizza in NYC. There were repeated calls from SI about Denino's. On my next trip to Mandolin Brothers, I checked it out. It is wonderful pizza. It is a friendly place that is down to earth with food from heaven. The pizza is delicious; get a pitcher of beer, some appetizers and a couple of pizza; no greater fun can be had, except an afternoon at Mandolin Brothers before your pizza.

The pizza is thin crusted and cooked well. Great job. BUT the calamari is the best in New York; you must try it to understand why I make this statement. It is tender and light.. Great place to bring the kids; the service is good. Be prepared to wait for a table...
