I am doing a research project on best pizza in the world and i chose this restaurant. It sounds good to me even though I have never been there! My research says that it got best #1 zagat rated NY pizza 8 years running! It does sound pretty pricey to me though.

The crust is somehow caramelized. It is costly but worth the price and trip and I've been to most of the rated "top spots' in nyc.

I lived in Brooklyn for the first 21 years of my life and went to Di Fara always. The pizza was OK then but I can't imagine that someone would think it's the BEST pizza now! $6.50 for a slice of pizza? I don't think so!! Larry's on Ave M had pizza that was some of the best I've ever had! I don't know who started this idea that De Fara was the best but I don't think who ever it was really knows their pizza! I'd be damned if I would stand in line for a piece of pizza and then have to pay $6.50 for it!! That would have to be the best pizza in the world no less in Brooklyn! Save your hard earned money and go to Crispy Pizza on 13th Ave for some REALLY GOOD pizza. There has to be a dozen more pizza places in Brooklyn that have GREAT pizza and not nearly as expensive as Di Fara's!!

Yes. Try it. It's really that good and it's entertaining to watch this artist, this bright shining light from heaven, make your pie. You need to have a sense of humor about the wait though, otherwise you'll ruin the entire experience for yourself.

if youre the type of person who enjoy punishment at the hands of pizza shop owners , wade right in . average pizza horrible service. no one deserves this kind of brutatily, except the most weird. in an update i went back, there were no lines , ordered, waited about 5 min, pizza was ready , i took my 2 slices and ate them walking down the street. it was about as normal as pizza can be. slices were fair.

you enter a dirty crowded little place with a long line and filled with pizza tourists and the usual accolades from the p.r. fueled media. after an eternity of waiting you plunk down five hard earned bucks and are handed a thin slice overloaded with a multitude of “artisanal” components you really could do without. nice char on the crust but when you lift your slice a soupy mess slides right off and you are left with only a handful of soggy crust with which to somehow scoop it up. best pizza in Brooklyn? fuhgeddaboutit UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2011: ONCE AGAIN THIS FILTHY DUMP HAS BEEN SHUTTERED BY THE DEPT OF HEALTH FOR SERIOUS HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS!

I was skeptical since the wait is so long and there are a bunch of tourists also waiting and taking pictures of the little old man making the pizza. Once we finally got our pie, I completely was sold. The pizza was absolutely delicious and reminded me of what real Italian pizza used to taste like. The condition of the place, long wait and crowd of people can turn you off but it really is worth the wait if you've never had this pizza before. After that I would recommend trying to go during the day on a weekday for possibly a shorter wait and hassle.

Not only did I have to wait 45 minutes for an overpriced pizza, but I had to listen to the inane blathering of multiple groups of tourists. Say goodbye to an era. I even heard that DeMarco's in West Village shut down and has become Mezzaluna. Sad really.
