Dojo used to be my favorite restaurant to meet friends or grab something on my own because the food was good and really inexpensive, although the service was always a bit slow. However, I was there very recently and the food was bad. My friend and I ordered from the brunch menu and I got steak and eggs overeasy. The steak was tough, but easy to cut because it was paper thin (no kidding) and the eggs were cooked through, and all of it very greasy. My friend ordered eggs benedict and the eggs were cooked solid. I also ordered a cappuccino and our server let it sit on the bar for five minutes while she had a personal conversation with another server so that it cooled off and I finally had to ask her about getting it. She was a little too nasty about saying, "It is coming!" And, as it turned out to have no foam, it was a latte anyway. We were the very first customers to enter the door on a Saturday morning and I was grossed out by the bathroom. Inexcusable.

I have to say that I don't agree with Matt Gross one bit. Every time I come into the city, I make it a point to stop at Dojo and grab a soy burger with their amazing tahini dressing (which I always take home for future salads). For about $5, you can get a soy burger, brown rice, and a salad! The prices ARE cheap, but the food (at least what is vegan/vegetarian) is absolutely delicious. Perfect for NYU students, vegetarians, and anybody looking for a cheap, yet filling meal.
