The night before I left NYC for home I stopped at Dominick's and loved it! Old world charm with no menu, we listened to the waiter recite a long list of evening specials.. Having never been here before, I ordered a dish my uncle and myself used to get years ago and it was no problem!
While eating you can enjoy the locals laughing and joking and enjoying a fabulous meal! We did the same! If you're ever in the Bronx, you have experience Dominick's!

This place is so out of the ordinary and offers the best of the Bronx...Anything and everything is delicious. Just love their stuffed artichokes. Better than that is their tossed salad which reminds me of grandma's. The dressing can be purchased at the bakery across the street so you can take a bit of Arthur Avenue home with you.

Dominick's is a great experience...

We shop the neighborhood, then hit Dominick's. Usually a crowd of 10.
The food is excellent all the way around. 20+ visits, I've found the artichokes to be unpredictable, and only one time was I disappointed in the mussels. Once the pork chops with vinegar peppers was dry. But those minor issues haven't ruined a great meal overall.
You don't need a menu, but newbies can find one in the back of the restaurant posted on the wall behind glass.
They keep your tab up at the bar, and the prices are reasonable. Cash Only.
Don't let the fast talking waiters get you flustered. If they suggest starting with apps, tell them you want an antipasto first.
Once we asked another patron what they were eating because it looked unfamiliar. It was their stuffed peppers. My friend said, "Those look good, we've never had those before." The woman cuts off a chunk puts it on a plate and hands it over to our table.
Followup with great espresso and desserts at a pastry shop nearby.

Good Food, No Follow Through

The food was great, don't expect anything more then that. They don't have menu's, no prices, just what they want to charge you, don't forget to bring the bag of money, because they don't take credit cards. Oh, and how can I forget, the don't have DESSERT or COFFEE or TEA. What kind of restaurant does not have coffee, tea or dessert? Well this is one unhappy customer. Went for a birthday celebration and was told we could get COFFEE and DESERT accross the street at the bakery, will never eat here again.

I drive from CT to go to dinner at Dominick's. We usually have a group with us and sit at one of the long family style tables and eat and drink until our hearts content. By the way, the wine has Dominick's label and it is great. I love Friday's for their fish salad. No fish on Sunday because they only serve what they buy that day. I love how you order food, the waiter comes over asks what you want to start with... antipasta, salad, appitizer. What ever you do, don't miss the stuffed artichoke and clams casino. Use the homemade bread to soak up the oil/garlic mixture after you eat the clams. Their chicken scarpiello is the best I have ever had. The chicken just falls off the bone. You can't go wrong, no matter what you order. Go hungry, because the portions are large. If you close your eyes, you will think you are eating in Italy.

I moved out of New York 20 years ago. On a trip back this summer a friend took me to Dominicks. I had never been to Arthur Ave and was absolutely blown away. The place was packed at five thirty in the afternoon. Just the smell alone was enough to drive me nuts. After ordering, (no menu of ccourse) the food hits the table in lightning speed. Veal Pizziaola, Chicken Scaparella, Mussels marinara and Linguine Ai olio were amazing. Ive never had food so fresh, cooked to perfection and so delicious. Am already planning a return trip to NY for next summer and Dominicks will be the first stop. Cannot wait to get back there!!!

There are no menus. You come in, they sit you down and ask what what you're in the mood for. Shrimp? Clams? How bout some Shrimp Scampi w/ baked clams. no problems. its just 2 people at the table. slight problem. If you're able to eat all the food served in one sitting you belong in Guiness. All food is served family style. It's made with such heart that you can taste in the meal you eat. If you look in the kitchen, there's probably 6 italian grandmothers making dishes. And that's what make the smell and taste irresistable. There is no doubt that if you trek it all the way from NJ or CT it is worth it.

Best Southern Italian restaurant in America

This place is phenomenal, don't expect the niceties of a menu though. At Dominicks, they have a much warmer approach, the waiter asks you what you like "veal, lamb, chicken, fish.....Whaddya want?" They then describe all the different wonderful ways they prepare each of their dishes. You chose, they bring, you eat. Very casual, very fun, HUGE portions. Arthur ave. is one of the last bastions of italian american culture left unscathed by what I call NY restaurant syndrome (small portions, overly fancy/rare ingrediants, bad service) You will never find that here, it's like a huge, crowded version of grandma's kitchen, and quite a hike from my residence in southern brooklyn, but always well worth it.

200 words are not enough to describe this place. There is an aura about this place and it says loosen your belt for this meal! If you like to eat and have a good time there is no better place than Dominick’s. The décor is Grandma’s basement and I like it. Menus and a credit card, Fogettabouit, there are no menus and it’s cash only pal. I can’t leave the place without eating the stuffed peppers and neither should you. The Linguini alla John is an incredible dish as well. Shame on you for having room for dessert after this meal! Maybe not the place for a first date unless she’s sassy. This is definitely the place for a guy’s night out or a loud family get-together. Heaven in the Bronx is a meal at Dominick's and tickets to the Yankee game.
