Would come back just for the beet salad, the amazing cornbread and the mango souffle! Wonderful wine list.

Anyone who doesn't mistake complication for complexity, attitude for chic, silly for fun should avoid this place at all costs. The basement room is bleak, but the crowded room upstairs, for which you will have to wait a long time at the most uncomfortable bar, is not much better. The waiter messed up the orders, the lobster was undercooked in a sickening way, the wine list was overpriced, and the desserts were simply foul (why make hibiscus ice cream? It was sour, not sophisticated; as for beer ice cream... it was an insult to both ice cream and beer. And to all the sweet tooths of mankind. Seriously, go to 81 instead.

I had brunch here for my 30th. The service was great and we got a great deal. i was not blown away by the food, however. the appetizers were good but not great - weird transitioning from cold cauliflower soup and duck meatballs to a mini pb&j parfait. the roast chicken with gnocchi was delicious but the fish was average. It seems pretty hit or miss. Would love to come back and try their dinner tasting or Sunday suppa though, they take too much care in their work to not give them another chance.

Wow I was really blown away of how good the food was. I'm very impressed. I particularly love the duck goulash. It was amazing!!!!!!! It was one of the most delicious dishes i've ever had, ever!!! We will definitely go back. This restaurant makes it in my top 10 (or even 5) best restaurants in the city. =)

The food here is superb but if you like to be constantly hounded for your plates and interrupted in the middle of a conversation, this is your place. Of course, you could spend far less and go to your local diner!
We felt very rushed and noticed 3 couples came and went next to us. They definitely want to move you in and out. I would never go back as I think it was the most stressful meal I have ever had! We finally had to tell them to stop bugging us! Ugly!!

I had really high hopes for Dovetail. I had heard really good things both from friends and from the reviews. I wasn't too disappointed; the food was good, but it was SALTY. Everything from the amuse bouche to the appetizer (we got crab ravioli) to my entre (I got the pork belly) was very salty. Aside from that though, the sauces and the food pairings were wonderful and tasty. The presentation was nice and the service was wonderful. My favorite part of the meal was dessert- I got the brioche bread pudding. It was delicious and everything I hoped it would be.

I have enjoyed Chef John Fraser's cuisine from the first time it touched my palate. Dovetail continues to amaze and impress and now that they are open for Brunch, I will be making more reservations to introduce new friends to Chef Fraser's delights.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Dovetail and had an amazing culinary experience. The amuse consisted of three extremely different and wonderful samplings. The cheddar cornbread was great. I began my meal with the soft shell crab followed by the red snapper. My husband began with the gnocchi, followed by the rack of lamb and lamb shank combo. We each tasted the others and both of us felt everything was prepared to perfection. The desserts were absolutely delicious, hats off to Vera Tong and her brioche bread pudding. We also had a warm dark chocolate dessert. We definately recommend Dovetail and will go back again. Extraordinary! Oh, don't miss the pink champagne, lite and smooth.

I would go back in a NY minute. Just what the westside needed.
It will only get better.

My finacé and I went by to sample Dovetails Sunday Suppa menu. The service was lovely, and the food was excellent, even at the end of a long Sunday (we had the 10 pm seating). We were so thrilled that we decided to see if we could book a large party in July for our wedding luncheon.
When I went back to meet with the manager, I was not dressed to the nines - and suddenly - service wasn't so good anymore! First, we were made to wait 15 minutes for the manager to speak with us (though we were on time for our appointment with him), and it spiraled down from there.
I say, keep it under 10 folks and you'll be fine there. Make your reservations in advance by phone, and know that even on Sundays it fills up rather quickly. Also, the Sunday Suppa menu which is currently $38 is going up in price soon.
We're going to Jean Georges for our wedding luncheon instead!
