I'm pregnant and all I want is red meat these days. The burger was above and beyond, huge and smothered in cheese and bacon. All around people were ordering the mac and cheese, I'm going to have to try that next. Check out my full review: http://www.mangiavita.com/2010/06/dumont-finally.html

Extremely pricey for what you get ($16 for mac and cheese!), which is average food -- and appallingly incompetent servers, who seem annoyed that you came and can't be bothered to help. Overpriced, overhyped, and absolutely not worth it.

At midnight, during a random adveture from the city in to Brooklyn, someone recommended DuMont to my friends and I because we were starving. Let me just say that I think that the burger I ate here was the best bruger I have ever had touch my lips. It was phenominal. Hands down. The onion rings. To die for. I would gladly shlep back to Brooklyn to eat one of their burgers.

A friend actually reccommended Dumonts because of their burgers, which are great, but while sitting at our table we noticed alot of the other patrons were eating or ordering the DuMac 'n Cheese. Needless to say, the 2nd time we all went to Dumonts we ordered the DuMac 'n Cheese and completely understood why. Far and away the best mac 'n cheese you will ever have.

Billyburg is so fortunate for having a place like this. The ravioli appetizer was pretty good. The roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese entree are the best of comfort foods. The pumpkin bread pudding is divine--crusty on the top, but soft and custardy on the bottom, paired with vanilla bean ice cream and candied pecans. I seriously can't think of another dessert I'd rather have at any restaurant. Unfortunately, it is only available seasonally. Get it before it leaves the menu.

At DuMont you will find some of the best Bloody Marys in Williamsburg (or greater NYC for that matter). The crabcake and the grilled baby squid are great starters, and if you are visiting from the city or beyond, do not miss the signature DuMont salad. I am not a burger eater, but friends that are come here so regularly it might be mistaken for Sunday church. The staff is extremely courteous, its almost hard to hate the hipsters here.

got the pulled pork sandwich & hangar steak here yesterday. it took incredibly long and i ended up having to ask for a box, but even after 1.5 hr of running around town, the food was hearty and amazing. get that hangar steak if it's available.
