There are not a lot of great restaurants in midtown Manhattan. However, this one bucks the trend. We went for brunch at the suggestion of a friend. Fantastic biscuits. Bacon was Lugers-Esque (for those of you in the know). A very reasonable $40 for 2 with drinks. A few months later we were going to the theater (not BOM...no tickets) and thought we'd role the dice with dinner. Another great experience. Wedge with bacon and NY Strip for wife and out of this world smoked Salmon (chef worked at Aquavit in a past life for those of you more in the know...Marcus Samuelsson anyone???) and the most interesting and appetizing hanger steak I've ever had . We split a brownie desert that was on par with the rest of the meal. I'll mention a solid wine with good options as well. If you are looking for a great meal in midtown, no easy thing as mentioned before, head to e&e and you'll be happy you did.

This is an undiscovered gem. I first ate at E&E when 4 of us had tickets to Book of Mormon located literally right across the street from the theater. The restaurant has a clear view out the window from the bar area so we were able to time everything perfectly. We had appetizers and drinks pre-theater and then texted the bar tender during the show to prepare a snack and drink for intermission!!! It simply doesn't get better than that. I also work in the neighborhood and have dined there several times so i finally decided to write a review because it is most certainly deserved. You're greeted at the door with smiles from a staff who is eager to please. The food is consistently excellent. Creative dishes that satisfy with out heavy sauces unless of course you want a heavy sauce which they'll gladly accommodate. Personally i like food that taste great on its own. The other night there was nine of us. We tried almost all the appetizers and ate mostly fish and steak all prepared to perfection. Red wine and cocktails were served promptly. There was no rush, we dined at our own pace, and we all had a great time. I highly recommend E&E!

I was a little skeptical when I was told to try out E&E. As a student living downtown, going to times square rarely happens. However, as I got out of the subway and started walking towards the restaurant, I realized that E&E was located in the perfect spot on a side street: meaning itâ€™s in the heart of new york city without being overwhelming with the crowd. Coming into the restaurant was a pleasant feeling- one of warmth. The decor is stylish and attractive, and was really comfortable. The music played in the background put me in a good mood, and I realized I could enjoy being in times square and have a perfect weekend meal without being served like a tourist. The service was extremely friendly and attentive without being on our backs all the time. Even the menu is straightforward, and you donâ€™t get lost in it like you usually do in other grill houses or restaurants in times square. Definitely a to-go place if youâ€™re looking for a meal with substance in a vibrant/unique area!

We had a terrific evening at E & E Grill House! It is a friendly restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, nice dĂ©cor, just off Times Squareâ€¦in the hustle but still gracious. Fun bar up front but the food is the attraction. It's delicious, far more upscale than a regular steak house. It has a wide choice of fresh grilled food---great steaks, hamburgers, chicken, fish, vegetables, and a wonderful choice of salads. My dinner companions ordered steaks which I tastedâ€¦mmmm good. I ordered the â€śmarketâ€ť soup ( a tasty butternut squash), diver scallops with corn, grilled broccolini and topped off with a brownie sundaeâ€”a memorable meal. The servers are friendly and helpful and canâ€™t do enough for their diners. It is the perfect place before or after theatre, and E & E can guarantee you will get to your show on time. This place is a find. I look forward to my next visit.

A find in the Times Square district. We like the atmosphere, decor, nice clientele. Favorite salad was the chopped salad. House smoked salmon appetizer was a winner, as were the hanger steak, and the brisket. The brownie in the sundae was sinfully good. Attentive service, and prices that do not break the bank - we'll be back. One semi-quibble - the delicious fingerling potatoes were served a bit late, which actually helped save our appetite, as we would have jumped on them first.

We went to E&E with a good Groupon deal (2 apps/entrees/desserts for $49). A stack of Groupon pages at the front desk suggested they were filled by patrons with the same deal. E&E looks as if plucked from the lobby of a boutique hotel in South Beach. Long & narrow, the bar is fairly small & the dining room is somewhat crowded. The bar seemed sparsely stocked, the bartender slow & overwhelmed. We were seated at a very nice corner banquette & greeted by a pleasant, friendly waiter. Bread didn't arrive until we asked for it. Judging by the other empty bread plates around us, I don't think we were alone. Once the biscuits came, they were very good. The salad I received was wrong but quickly fixed. We each ordered filet mignon that would be referred to as petite filets elsewhere. My medium-rare was received well-done & returned, just as we'd witnessed at both tables next to ours. The twice baked potato was more like a potato skin & the grilled brocollini was almost raw. I'd suggest getting the paired sauce of your choice on the side. If you're averaging a returned steak per table I guess you've got to make them small, but at least they were tasty. Desserts - key lime pie & cherry cobbler - were both very good. Without the Groupon our meal would have cost about $110. Paying full price I'd prefer to put that money toward a more polished dinner at Sparks, The Palm, or S&W. But if another Groupon comes along, I might think about going back to E&E.
