Having visited New york for the first time, we were advised to go to Ellen's Stardust Diner. While the concept is really good the whole place needed a clean and repaint The waiting staffs' clothes either needed washing or mending While i a like a good sing song with the rest ,the volume was too loud and too frequent - couldn't eat my breakfast or hold a conversation. However the food was good. the coffee rubbish

The perfect time to go is right after a broadway show. You are still in that singing and dancing mood, and this place keeps you in it. The service is excellent, even while they are singing, they keep up with their tables, and they really like to chat with the customers. They inteeract with the audience, and their voices are pretty great aswell. Over all it was a great time, oh and the foods pretty good, lots of choices, especially the dessert section!

We visited the Stardust for both breakfast and lunch (on different days) and the menu was basic but the food amazing. The entertainment was superb. Brandon was superb as Gaston in Beauty & The Beast. We loved him!! All the staff were so freindly and accommodating. They were all STARS! What an entertaining experience. Well Done to all of the staff and GOOD LUCK in all you do. You shine as stars should !! The food was superb and delicious. XXXX I have recommended you to all my British friends XXXXX

We went in June 2007, and absolutely loved it! We had 3 people in our party that ranged from teenager to senior, and we all three had a great time! The food was great and at a great price, the entertainment made the environment fun and upbeat, and the decor and TV were fun to watch while waiting. We were only in NYC for 3 days and went to this restaurant two times! After eating other places and going to 3 Broadway Shows, it was a great way to relax and enjoy more NYC talent and entertainment!!

If you're looking to find New York's struggling actors, this is the place to go to. This 50s style diner, features typical diner food served by singing waiters, who do karaoke style music numbers while you wait and eat your food. It's cute, an interesting place to take your kids and the food is not bad, but nothing to rave about.

So many restaurants in town and we research as many as we can before we visit at least once a year. Happening upon this one for dinner was a fun change of pace..quirky and laid back. The food was your basic diner style fare and we LOVED having out of work Broadway actors sing for us and TO us...one of the last "original" eateries in Times Square. We like to search out local, neighborhoody type spots but this is a good place to do the tourist thing. We are taking our 6 yr old daughter there next week on her first visit to the greatest city in the world! A sure thing for kids and first timers, especially if you're on a budget or bringing your parents who still appreciate the 50's style.

As an adult, I sympathize completely with reviewer dantelman's disgruntled review of Ellen's. However, if you have kids or teenagers that you want to keep mindlessly and inexpensively entertained during mealtimes, this fifties themed diner-restaurant fits the bill completely. We took our daughter to Ellen's not knowing quite what we were in for. My husband and I were startled to see waiters and waitresses jumping up on the banquettes while karaoke singing fifties' rock standards. There are also TV monitors that play footage from Broadway shows and an electric train that runs along the edge of the balcony. The food tends towards the bland and inoffensive, with OK salads. It's a good place for kids who are picky eaters. My daughter and all the other kids and teenagers in the place loved it. It's noisy and chaotic. If you're with kids, you can bear it for their sake. If not, take advantage of the city's great restaurants that are not appropriate for kids. Enjoy being an adult.
