Delicious and on par with food in Tokyo. Homemade fresh tofu is wonderful. I strongly recommend the daily specials, the blue fin collar was amazing. over all a little pricey but that comes with quality so it has value and I come back. & absolutely beautiful space.

I can't stop coming back. I was their last night and I'm still thinking about the fresh scooped warm tofu. It's really amazing. I think that I'm most satisfied when I get something that for years I have under appreciated and then all of the sudden boom!! it's my favorite food. It's life altering. I really can't finish this review with out mentioning the space. It's beautiful. Honestly one of my favorite places in the city to spend my time.

The food was excellent. I had the tasting menu for $50/person and I thought it was totally worth it. The flavors were subtle. The food, overall, was delicious. The restaurant also had an extensive and creative drink menu. I think the the restaurant is well worth it - particularly if on an expensive account.

What a wonderful restaurant. From the minute you walk in you feel transported to Japan. Service is terrific, food great(try the crab tempura in a sushi roll, en salad,any and all sushi and sashimplus the duck dish is great, and ofcourse the fresh tofu. Even the chocolate dessert is good. What a good addition to the New York restaurant scene!!!

Beats Megu & Nobu hands down in everyway and yet very reasonable prices. Besides amazing food, they have great food presentation, attentive service, cool massive space and design but not overwhelming or tacky. Sushi is not the priority here or the main staple that should be eaten.

No lie. The combination of the delicious and unusual food (the fresh tofu is amazing), the beautiful room, and the relatively quiet setting (meaning it's one of the few restaurants in the city where you can actually have a conversation), together they add up to my very favorite place. I've been coming here for years, and I hope to come for many more. Happily, it's a restaurant for grown-ups.

I'm firmly a casual-dining, street-food sort of person, yet I find myself drifting back to EN - why? Because despite the pristine, uptight decor and presentation, and despite the hokey techno, and the prices... the food is damn good. Revelatory. Things like grated mountain yam, lightly deep-fried, that burst in your mouth. Fresher and more refined than anything on St. Mark's Place.

Excellent. Bias: my first time in a non-sushi japanese restaurant. We chose the tasting menu (cannot recall its name); they bring an endless array of small dishes, all of which were delightful. The "dollar" signs should be $$$, since the bill easily builds up to $70-80, if you sprinkle your dinner with some decent sake. Decor is ok, although it could be a little more quieter, given the ample spaces. Needs a sound engineer's visit (notice: this is relative to the fact that it's a fancy and wonderful restaurant; by NYC standards, it is not noisy at all). FInal note: perfect for kids (many different thing to taste, some exotic, some less), as long as they're not fries-only children - but I suppose it's up to parents.

En Japanese Brasserie combines both a lounge and restaurant into one space, which works to a greater degree than some other places. The contemporary Japanese décor, matches to contemporary Japanese menu. Dinners tend to young and trendy, typically a bad sign for serious dinning, but EN succeeds where others have failed. While not everything is perfect, the winners far exceed the so-so selections. Service seems to be attentive, although the caliber of waiters seems very unpredictable. So the only mystery is the name really EN of really ZEN?

We tried 9 of the dishes and kept saying, "this is the best...no, THIS is the best" The black cod special was amazing, as was the sea bass, Kobe sushi, tuna and avacado salad, duck and potato croquettes, and the very unique (although a bit pricey) drinks. I recommend the apricot infused sochou-a distilled japanese grain alcohol. Service was decent, our waiter seemed in a hurry to take our orders although the menu had a lot of japanese without english explanations and we waited a while to be seated in spite of a reservation. It also got cold towards the end of the night so dress warm in winter. I truly loved it but EN, Please please fix your stereo system!!!
