Over salted veg, undercooked meat and chicken, the best thing was the fresh made at you table mozzarella. that was great. maybe it was a bad night for them, it certianly was for us.

The concept is an interesting one. No menu, 2 or 3 courses (appetizers, pasta, meat/fish; everyone at your table must agree on this), food delivered fairly continuously family style. The food was excellent with interesting appetizers and pastas. The meat course was also very good. The problem is that it is very expensive--$39 each before wine. If you go, don't miss the mozzarella prepared tableside.

English Is Italian harbors a great concept -- the "all you would like to eat" format -- tries very hard to impress and often succeeds. The problem this night was balance among the pasta offerings. Our server had explained to us the process, but he did not really tell us anything about what we were going to get before it got to the table. You want to taste everything, but by doing so you risk not having room to have more of what you really liked. I would certainly have limited my consumption of some items in favor of others. Of the four pastas served, three were similar in that they were extremely rich in butter, cheese or cream. On the fourth, the bolognese sauce was seasoned with cinnamon and allspice to a degree that threw the balance of spices off completely. More variety among the pastas served would have been welcome. So, if English Is Italian is open to suggestion, I'd say that a little more communication would go a long way. Tell me what the dishes are before you bring them and offer more variety among the pasta dishes. More info, less waste. Happier diners!
