Very charming!

My friend and I had an extremely nice experience at Euzkadi. Great atmosphere! You could almost imagine yourself to be in Spain. The decor is eclectic, cozy, dimly lit which comes off as romantic, rather than dark. We opted to have tapas instead of the paella (which we heard was good) because we wanted to sample a number of dishes and we were not disappointed. The top favorites were the gambas (shrimp), albodingas (duck meatballs) and the pequillos (peppers stuffed with spicy tuna). Our waiter was delightfully professional and not to mention cute! We also had the white sangria which I loved because it wasn't sugary sweet. Guys, I definitely would recommend for a date... I know I'd be happy if was brought here!

My kind of a place

So we went to Euzkadi for a birthday celebration. We were a party of 6, some of whom are fairly picky eaters. The Maitre d' seated us in the back round table. We said it was too crowed and he offered to reseat us. We played musical chairs and wound right back where we started with only a bemused look by the staff. I mention this only because some other reviews said the staff was haughty. The food was hands down fabulous. The paella was great. The chorizo appetizer was rich in smoky pimenton. The muscles we fresh and cooked to perfection. That appetizer thingy that combines avocado with feta cheese on toast was divine. They also had a great selection of wine with two of my favorite whites: Albarino and a Txocali (or Txocalino in Basque) What I think one need to be aware of is the cultural difference in a place like this. It is European and the service IS going to be a little slower than the typical New York restaurant where you have one wait staff for every 3 tables. When all was said and done dinner for 6 with 3 bottles of wine and three deserts came to $388 or $129 a couple. We thought that was a great price considering the quality. If you allow yourself 2 hours for a leisurely dinner and come with a love of food you?ll not be disappointed. Come here when the place is slammed and an attitude about service and you?re likely to be disappointed. On second thought, don?t come here? that way it will be less crowded when I come back!

This place should not be a critic's pick

It's cute and charming, and the waitstaff is sweet. But the tapas are totally mediocre. I ordered the quail which came in a weird chocolate (not mole) sauce. Inedible. (Well, not technically -- I ate some of it. I was hungry!) The other stuff, chorizo, a cazuela of beans and sausage, and goat cheese croquetas were barely passable. Much of our food came to the table cold. The olives were $7 and definitely martini olives. Not good.

Was there on friday early, It wasnt to busy at that time but you could tell it was gonna get there soon. We had a large group next to us so I was rushing my group to order asap which paid off especially because we had ordered paella that takes 4ever. All in all great value for your money and definitely a tapas place you dont want to miss!

great for groups, but you'll wait even with a reservation on the weekends

Small space can get crowded, and we waited longer than we wanted to even with a reservation, although there were 8 of us on a Friday night... but a free round of drinks at the cramped bar space eased the pain. (I've gone during the week and there wasn't a wait at all.) Once we were seated the waitress was great and took our orders relatively soon- it's too small of a place for your server to ignore your table. Scallops, dates with cabrales and serrano ham, patatas bravas, mushrooms with sherry, san sebastian salad, duck meatballs, goat cheese and honey croquettes and sangria are all amazing, and I became obsessed with the olive tapenade they serve with the bread (which I probably ate 3 entire loaves of). After they brought out a dessert for the birthday boy at the table, they brought out a fresh bottle of champagne (or some sort of sparkling wine) on the house for all of us. The people there aren't the typical NYC restauranteurs who think their food is pure gold, even when it sucks, and that poor service is standard, which is hard to find these days. I highly recommend it. And call ahead to see what nights they have live music- it's really great.

Cozy nook

The staff are friendly, has great cosy atmosphere whether it is a full house or not. The food is really wholesome, satisfying and tasty.. like real TASTY.... touches the soul. Everything is well seasoned.. so many favorites.. and believe me the sangria is a must... it is well made...try it if you don' t believe me!

with capitals. food was at BEST decent. service was absolutely disgusting. not only for lack of attention, i get it, they are "busy" but when it came to my check, they made a mistake 3 times, over charging me. and then, when it was pointed out to them, dismissed, never apologized for. not sure why i still gave my sub-par waiter a 20% tip. probably felt bad for the bus boys who worked so hard while my distasteful (dark hair, tall, too cool for school) waiter spent all his time jabbing with his friend at the bar. would be much better if you got rid of this disdainful waiter. but still, it was a 1 at best. pass. so many other places to go eat.
