exceptional food with pretty good service. not a fan of the menu, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good! I'd go back.

I hear great reviews about this place and I was excited to take my wife there for a date night-what a disappointment. I spent over $80 on bite sized food and I'm pissed. After looking at the menu and being assured by the hostess that the food was "exceptionally yummy", I waited 20 minutes to be seated with my wife. I got an outdoor table, which was fine. I got the recession special, a shot of whiskey, a PBR beer and spicy pickle juice. So, I order the steamed veggie buns-what a joke! Really? Did I pay $13 for 2 small sliders that took two bites to eat? I could've went to White Castle and saved a load of money! I saw an entree at another table, so I thought-ok, surely our entrees will be bigger. I ordered the chicken claypot and the baby bok choy. It tasted great, but what the hell? It was only a small serving each. Between my wife and I, we both left hungry! Save your $! You can get a better deal in Chinatown anytime. What a joke-how are they in business?

Best meal I had in NYC

The crispy pork belly with watermelon is a perfect blend of melt-in-your-mouth meat and herbs with the sweetness of the watermelon. The duck also just melts in your mouth with a perfect balance of spices and herbs, and the meat is cooked perfectly with a crispy exterior and a soft, tasty inside. Oh and yes, the meats are greasy. It's called "Fatty" Crab. The Chili Crab is also cooked in an out-of-this-world sweet and spicy sauce, the contents of which my taste buds could not figure out. Only down-side, we were surprised by the total: almost 100$ for two without alcohol. Make sure you ask how much the crab is, as the price changes with the season.

We met another couple here to enjoy a meal and talk. Forget both. This branch of Fatty Crab's kitchen is not the same as the UWS. The food was pathetic and the service was unabashedly brazen about getting us the hell out. The decibel level of the redundant music was the hint to go elsewhere. Against my better judgement we stayed and endured a series of plates that were at best uninspired and meagre. The slidders were dry, under spiced and had gristle to boot. The fish fry was lame as were the steamed pork buns. The duck breast was mostly fat and bone. A horrible rip off. Zak Pelaccio best take a look here. The before-tip tab was $155 with four glasses of wine. Would not return even if comped.

Fantastic birthday dinner

Two of my girlfriends took me here for my birthday dinner. We started with a large can of Asahi.. and a Shrimp Roll with yummy chips. Then we had the Wonton Mee - probably the best soup I have ever tasted. We were all practically drinking out of the bowl because it was just that good. I could eat that soup everyday. Then we had the Chicken Curry dish - something Lemak? Outstanding- you have to be ready to get in there and cut up the chicken, remove it from the bone, and mix things up. But, that first bite melts in your mouth and all the flavors of cilantro and peanuts, chicken and spicy curry all meld together perfectly. Last thing to arrive to the table was the Chili Crab. Large large portion - we couldn't finish and were so sad to leave those legs in the bowl. It is definitely a lot of work to get the crab meat - with the spicy sauce dripping down your hands and your face sweating from the heat, but the meat is so fresh and FANTASTIC. HIGHLY recommended, will definitely be back!

Can't cook rice? Really?

I am worried whenever a restaurant purports to serve any sort of Asian-style cuisine and they can't even cook rice properly. The pork in the tea sandwiches was insufficiently fulsome to redeem the fact that we were just served 2 pieces of Wonderbread cut into 3. I don't remember Wonderbread being a staple food item any time I've ever traveled in SE Asia. And as much as I love pork floss, it absolutely suffocates the skate rather than enhances what could have been truly enjoyable. The Fatty Duck was the only redeeming dish - but unfortunately, only 3 pieces for all that you pay, and it was presented on top of that insipid, undercooked rice.

Overpriced and overcrowded. These are mainly peasant food dishes in Malayasia and they want $16 for Nasi Lamak? It is rice with a egg on it.., (minus the traditional baby cuttlefish).., thank G*D! $32 for Chili Crab and all you get is a tiny dungenous! Authentically they are Sri Lankan crabs and these are the size of your head for this price. For Dungenous at this price you should get several. The table next to us actually were served tiny blue crabs instead and they did not complain. Ignorance is certainly bliss. Nope, nope and nope! Fatty Crab is Fatty Slag

Don't trust those who don't know great NYC in the cut spots

It frustrates me that these are all these wanna be NYC food critics who attack great spots in Manhattan because they may not run into Paris Hilton or Jay-Z there. Fatty is one of my fav spots to go to in Manhattan. Yes it does get a bit crowed, and a little noisy but really, if you go 2blocks Northwest its the same damn thing, only then you have to deal with the $20 martini and the the wanna be Lindsey Lohans, the noise and the crowds. Fatty has the most amazing chicken wing app, outstanding fatty duck and crab, coconut and chicken rice to die for, and the cocktails, just say that I never go there with out having at least 6 different drinks. If you get there a good time, the bartenders and wait staff enter act with you, making you try new things and coming up with drinks that best suit your taste. So sorry there is no red carpet, but you will get great service, unique food, and a low key atmosphere to enjoy your friends and family.
