YUCK Just had a late night din with my husband here and honestly we have never, EVER, had such disgusting food before! The food had a rancid, gamey taste/smell, it was so gross! We ordered the pork belly and shrimp and what we got was sour deep fried shrimp over gray, slimy, raw looking Bacon! The pork belly was GRAY! The server recommended that we roll the shrimp in the pork belly and eat it but the greasy, raw looking stuff wouldn't even unstick from the plate! Ok, so we got through this dish by just eating the shrimp. Then our pork and beef sliders came, they looked so delicious, we thought ok finally they are going to make up for the nasty pork belly situation but oh we were SO wrong, we took one bite and it was like biting into organs! It was SO BAD! I picked the meat apart and found it was still raw inside! You can't eat raw pork! What the hell is wrong with these people serving this crap! I didn't take another bite, we both felt so nauseous. So finally our last dish came out, the Indonesian fried rice, this was the icing on the cake, we both took a forkful of this horrible, gamy dish with a runny looking egg on top and decided we had enough of torturing ourselves. We got our check and to add insult to injury, it's so expensive! This place will forever go down in our book as the worst food experience of our lives! My husband and I have traveled to Asia several times and the food is incredible! This place is a disgrace! HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED

Be prepared to share because the food comes out at random times. Don't expect to get your appetizer first. For two people we ordered the shrimp & pork belly appetizer (which came out third), asparagus with peekytoe crab, soft shell crabs, and crispy pork with watermelon pickles. It was all okay. Our favorite was the asparagus. The shrimp had a nice flavor and bit of crunch, but what they called "pork belly" looked and tasted like a thin slice of deli turkey. Weird! Then the pork with watermelon was not advertised as pork belly, but that's what it was, thick slabs of fat with a small layer of meat. I liked it, especially the sauce and the watermelon pickle, but it wasn't what I was expecting. The portions were very small and we weren't that full even with four dishes. I liked my drink (the drewish princess) with elderflower, vodka, and sparkling wine. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but it was nowhere near worth the price. PS- When I came once before I had a really nice curry fish wrapped in banana leaves, but it's no longer on the menu. Too bad! We also had the crab pot, which was very messy and very expensive.

On a recent visit to this restaurant (which I never would've returned to if it weren't on our block), I've gotten the sense that the management is trying to improve things. They seem to have gotten rid of some of the weirder, more obnoxious staff and have hired servers and hostesses who aren't still drunk from the night before. Big improvement. We were also incredibly thrilled when we returned on Valentine's Day and noticed that the music had been turned down to a more tolerable level. When we complimented the hostess on the improvement on the way out, however, we were slightly bemused to hear her say, "Oh, yeah, we just turned down the music for Valentine's Day so people could hear each other for just tonight. But we'll have it back to full blast tomorrow." Seriously? You know people can't hear each other at the regular volume? . . . And you only let your customers have conversations on special occasions? Really? My latest theory: Fatty Crab is secretly owned by Taylor Momsen.

2 lunch entrees and 3 appetizers, no drinks and no desserts. A $100.00 lunch- with tip! The portions are quite small. Sharing is forced but it's very difficult to share since the portions are so tiny and there are just two of each item. Most of it was fairly tasty. The service was friendly but very, very slow. The table was a little grimy and the toy that they handed my kid to play with (while a nice gesture) was also very grimy... it was a Thomas book and the pages were sealed shut! The bottom line is that I would not go back. There is WAY better food in NYC with much more reasonable prices. A $100.00 lunch should not leave me wanting.

Me and a couple of friend stopped by for lunch on a Friday when it wasn't busy. While the rest of my party received their food in a timely manner, I had to wait several minutes for my appetizer and over 20 mins for my main entree. I ordered the same exact thing as one of my friends plus a drink. After waiting so long for my entree, and my friends were practically finished with their food, I lost my appetite and told the waiter not to even bother with bringing me the food. He didn't apologize for the delay or provide an explanation. Instead they charged me regular price for my pork buns even though they were part of the lunch prix fixe. The manager told me that they were already losing money by offering the prix fixe menu. I couldn't believe that he even told me that. I don't care if you are losing money. That is not my problem. I am not your accountant or business manager, take that issue up with them. He didn't apologize for the long wait and I had to reason with him on why I shouldn't pay full price for something that was part of a deal, which I only got half of. Definitely the worst service I've received in Manhattan

Nothing really bad about our experience but nothing to make me go back or recommend this restaurant. I would actually recommend that you not go - there are better restaurants in NYC to give your money to. Food was okay - had the soft shell crabs, veggie and pork buns, short ribs and burgers. Down side is they say everything is to share, but only if you have just 2 people in your party; anymore and you have to order more then 1 order of everything, making your tasting options limited unless you cut everything into tiny 1 bite portions. This is a loud space, but it fits the decor - Malaysian Brother Jimmy's with porn in the bathroom. But for the space and what you get 4 people should be able to walk out satisfied for way under $250 for food and drinks!

Sat and ate at the bar- the music was loud and the place was way too warm inside. I ordered the Wonton Mee -"shrimp and pork wontons with fried noodles." Don't order this. It was the worst entree I have ever had in New York in four years. The broth was over salted, and the wontons were undercooked and tasted like soft egg whites. Don't waste your money.

Good food made mediocre by shit service.

My initial infatuation with Fatty Crab was greatly tempered by the jarring experience of eating here. Loud music (and I mean caterwauling, hurts-your-ears music) and beyond snobbish service (I-know-cool-because-I-moved-to-Williamsburg-last-year-after-college service) brought back obnoxious memories of high school. The too-cool-for-school vibe brought my attention to flaws in the food. When you like a place, you can forgive insultingly small portions, overpriced vegetable sides, or waiter mistakes like wrongly ordered items. Not so when the wait staff act like they're begrudgingly doing you a huge favor by serving you.

While the decor was pretty fresh&funky.Food was good but one dimensional. Music was way to loud. Our waitress was great. Most staff was more into themselves than the costumers. While eating my 8 year old said look mommy at the television over the bar. They had some mtv show on with dolls having sex. I asked the bar tender if he could change the channel. His reply was it's alright it's over. but if the kid doesn't like that don't let him go into there bathrooms. When i told the manager he had a glazed kinda look and replied yeah dont think youll want him to see our bathroom. Guess it's not a family kinda resteruant. .

Second visit last night, which was not nearly as good as as the first time I had dinner there. The service is sloppy, the food is inconsistent, and overpriced for the portion size. However, the thing that prompted me to write a review, which I have never done before, was what I witnessed while waiting at the bar for a table. The bartender sloshed some white wine into a glass, eyeballed it to check how much he had poured, apparently decided it was too full, and actually poured some wine from the glass back into the bottle - ! I have never seen anything like this in a bar or restaurant before. It made it difficult for me to enjoy my very small and not very cold $14 glass of sparkling wine. I won't return.
