My partner and I had dinner at Fillips this past Saturday - and were greatly surprised. The entire experience was beyond our expectations. I did some research on what would be the best bet on a restaurant in this area - and surely the reviews were right on.
We both had fantastic fish entrees. And, my starter was a French Onion soup that was hands-down the best I've ever had. (and I was in Paris only the week before and just had it). Superb.
The wine was reasonably priced and a delicous match to our dinner.
Overall we truly loved the experience and look forward to our next visit.
:)

We were traveling with 4 terrific kids, ages 10-14. Had a wonderful lunch. The chicken ceaser salad was so appealing, that my daughter is spoiled from now on, to have one anywhere else! The roasted vegetable sandwich was served warm on toasty bread. Someone in our party had the salmon b.l.t, and was not as impressed as the rest of us. The entres' came with nicely done fries, which should have been mentioned by the server when we ordered a plate for the table. Our kids were made to feel welcome, and it is now their favorite place in NY. A beautiful place that we just stumbled upon.

My wife and I recently went for dinner at Fillip's and we were very surprised at what we found. The food was exceptional. We are glad to find a place that serves really great food without having to make a reservation a month in advance. We had the tasting menu and it was well worth it. The chef/partner even helped us pick out a great bottle of wine and we found the wine prices wonderful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT

I have been there twice and both have been a delighful experience of flavors. The foie gras is spectacular. The tasting menu with wines is worth the price. The Chef/Partner (Joshua Smookler) even came out of the kitchen to greet us and help us select some amazing wines. Joshua really made our experience even better and it really shows that he cares. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS UNKNOWN RESTAURANT.

My boyfriend and I went to Fillip's for dinner the other night not expecting too much but expecting something decent. Boy were we fooled. Fillip's met and exceeded our expectations and were we happy to have gone there! First of all, the chef's canape that was sent out was over the top; Scallops over orzo with some beautiful lobster cream sauce with shaved summer truffles was to die for. Chef's canape with truffles!!! Unheard of! We were prepared for a let down after that but the dishes just got better. Joshua's lamb needs to go to MOMA. It was the most incredible lamb we have ever had period! Joshua even helped us select a great bottle of wine (Martinelli Zinfandel) and it was so inexpensive. Keep up the great job. If you read this review, you need to go.

Eating out in manhattan we have so many choices, but Fillip's in Chelsea like the article in New York Magazine is true to it's word, "Sticks out like a souffle on a Krispy Creme conveyor belt". My wife and I went to Fillip's not knowing what to really expect, but we were extremely surprised and pleased by the experience. The chef came out to greet us and recommended a great bottle of wine and made our decisions for food very easy since there was so many items we wanted to try. We have now been back several times and all three times, we have been immensely pleased. I just hope the chef remembers us when the restaurant gets packed and we want a reservation. Bravo.

Had a wonderful time at Fillip's. Everything we read about Fillp's is true and more. We had the warm asparagus and the tuna tartare. The asparagus was absolutely fantastic and the caviar on the tuna was a great touch. The selection of entrees was short but covered everything. The halibut with braised beets and horseradish had a great balance and the rack of lamb was the best lamb we had ever. Anyone reading this should really go...it's worth it!

Cannot say enough of the food. Warm asparagus with mushrooms were the best we ever had. The yellow fin tuna tartare with osetra caviar was impeccable with just enough punch. The rack of lamb with parsnip puree was the best lamb we ever had and the Kobe beef (Mishima quality) is so so decadent.
