My friend took me here to try first time Russian food and I enjoyed myself. The servers were amazing. Super attentive, nice and in their cute outfits. We ordered caviar, chicken and scallops. All cooked well and very tasty! The decor was very old soul, but in a good way.

I want to nominate Betty Valentine for the worst manager of the year award. We made reservations in advance, met with this manager twice, and met with the chef to make the menu.We also confirmed 3 days before the event. But when me, my family and our guests showed up on the day of the celebration NOBODY EXPECTED US. We needed to wait at least 40 min . There was no honey vodka ( what was planned in advance), no o'derves that we ordered. Instead we got some leftovers from the kitchen and different kind of vodka that people didn't like and most of that was left untouched. No manager was around, no chef available.I asked to call the manager Betty Valentine and tryed to found out what happened- she hung up on me.We paid the full amount and the next day I called trying to get an apology -asked to talk to the owner -they told me that he doesn't exist. I asked to get refund for cocktail hr (food and drinks that we didn't order)- just got answer NO.Can't believe that this happened to me in the middle of NYC.Still very upset...

The entire is concept of the Firebird is classic Russian. For people who have had the opportunity to travel recently to Moscow or St. Petersburg, the cuisine at Firebird would seem a little old fashion and the décor historic Czarist Russia, and not the new modern Russia. That being said, what Firebird does it does very well. The dishes are prepared in the classic style and the service is far better than anywhere in Russia. So rather than taking the Delta flight to Moscow, take a taxi to W. 46th and experience a bit of classic Russia.

In one of the most lovingly-restored brownstones on Restaurant Row you can step back in time to Imperialist Russia. The walls are covered in beautiful paintings, ballet costumes, painted trays and boxes, faberge eggs and other bejeweled artifacts. The food is also art, in that the chef has taken traditonal Russian dishes from the era when French cuisine ruled all of Europe, and added modern twists, like cranberry confit on the Chicken Kiev, and pine nuts and cumin in the winter squash soup. Strong Russian coffee flavors the ice cream served with the molten chocolate cake. And the signature Honey Vodka drink is a sip of heaven.

I love Firebird. I had Christmas dinner here in '97, and it was amazing! If you can't be at home with your family, definitely come to Firebird. It is decorated so beautifully, just like a music box.
