Lunch was served with poor service, stale bread, and slimey rotten pickes

Pork belly sandwich should be removed from the menu; sliver of dried out meat with a slather of fig paste engulfed by an oversized stale rye bun. Pickled served alongside had a pinkish slime and rotten. Salad dry with far too much mustard. Pork soup with beans and okra; very little evidence of pork, few beans and slices of okra was short of a consomme. Taste wise, it was good. Burger had a good beef taste; fries were well fried. Portions are healthy. Service was lacking, wait time long, no one checked to see if food was ok or if we wanted to order anything else. I saw our waitress plopping food on tables; she obviously wished to be elsewhere but there. I should have changed the order when she smirked as I ordered the Pork belly sandwich; could have meant sucker! Music is good; patrons are casual and easy going.

While at once a lovely restaurant, it does suffer from lack of consistency with the level of service and food. A burger at lunch ordered medium rare came overcooked, and although it's a great spot for a casual ricotta-on-toast or ravioli (which they do incredibly well) for a more special dinner its risky. One particular evening my risotto was delicious, but the Icelandic cod was watery and gelatinous. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the waiter and manager, by which there was no apology nor explanation for the fishy misstep. For the price point, I'd expect slightly higher service and regard for their locals.
Looks great, service still learning

While I ate my dinner on sunday night I witnessed several service snafoos - we waited ages to be given menus/greeted and then to order, guests were not greeted at the door and several 2 person parties just sat down at 4-tops and when larger groups arrived people were asked to get up and move tables - but it was fine because the place is so like-able that you had to cut them a break. Great coffee and their signature burger was a greasy unique delicious mess (beets on a burger might be my new favorite combination - is it aussie or kiwi?). They also have issues with the grill smoking up the whole tiny place - and no AC or any real air flow. Adorable, but definitely still working out the kinks. Potential - if they get some ventilation.

food was really nice but my b-friend and i left with a bad taste from the lousy service. we were practically ignored the entire time (sat for 15 minutes before someone came over) and had to ask for everything from drinks to silverware without a waiter ever coming over once. the atmosphere is cold and considering the entrees run on or about 20 bucks i would spend my money elsewhere. this is what ruins a neighborhood. bad attitudes..felt like they were doing me a favor.

Seldom am I urged to write a review on a place such as this. First, the burger was excellent, as I was hoping for something to rival the burger at DINER or THE SPOTTED PIG, and I left feeling as though it had mustered the strength to give those two a fight at the least... Second, my lady had a Lamb Shepard Pie, of which she was most supportive, cleaning her plate and yielding her quite happy indeed.. Some gripes I have about all places, sure, but this was atrocious. We were seated, the pair of us, in a quaint corner straddling the bar and a two-fer towards the kitchen--fine. Not even being told the specials, we didn't think of it and carried on. THREE times I was asked, being the patron on the outside of the booth, to move by the waitress. EACH time she stressed that she needed to get to the OTHER guests. I felt as though, even as SHE was the one who seated me there, it was my fault. Never asked if we were ok, didn't seem to care...a waste
Too cool for service

I live on the same block as Five Leaves, and so was very excited for the restaurant's arrival. The food is pretty good, especially the burgers, but the service is so consistently horrible that I cannot patronize this establishment any longer. The waitstaff generally ignore you. Once, after waiting 45 minutes for our salad and burger (with only three other customers in the place), they were casually tossed at our table without a word of apology (or any word at all). The staff seem to think they work there to be seen, and not to actually serve patrons.
Good neighborhood place with good food and decent prices

I ate here on a Friday night recently. We got drinks, bottle of wine, appetizers, and entrees and it was only $45 per person with a 20% tip. Good value. The food was quite good. I'd strongly recommend the home made ricotta, served with honey and fruit bread. It was divine. I got the chicken entree served over risotto which was good, but not great. My boyfriend got the burger entree which was overdone but good.

Now, here's a restaurant/bar where the sheer effort of its owners to please you is obliging from the start. Everything, and I mean this literally as I've been frequenting the place, on the menu is prepared with care - not an inkling of sloppiness or get-over-with-it-ness. The coffees are excellent too, which is not a common affair. Pricewise, no unpleasant surprises either: besides the quality and unpretentiousness of the food, it also comes in generous portions. All in all, a very pleasant experience, save for this malady of our age to renounce reservations and to politely oust customers once their last bite is gulped to increase turnaround.

Attended a friend's large birthday party there recently. About 20 people for an early dinner (6ish) on a Saturday evening. Restaurant amenable to that group of people without forcing a limited menu or guaranteed tab. Service and food were great and staff was good humored.

I have been watching these guys slave away to turn an ugly 80"s style hair salon into an awesome cafe for about 8 months. I only just got around to having lunch and dinner here this week and my husband and I were so happy. The food is so, so fresh and the service was likewise (for williamsburg). I would def recommend the coffee, granola and my husband is a fan of the hanger steak. overall a really great neighborhood spot which we will frequent!
