Excellent Local Fair

I keep coming back. Laid-back but elegant with local organic fair and a good chef, what more can you ask for?
Atrocious Service and Cold Food

I have been to this restaurant on a few occasions and had always had a wonderful meal, but I went with a group of four on Sunday evening at 6 PM and had such a horrible experience that I will not return again. Food came out of the kitchen incredibly slowly. We waited over an hour for our entrees, which arrived cold. The room was so dark we were unable to distinguish what was meat and what was fat in our steak. The server did not once stop by to ask us how we were enjoying our meal and if everything was to our liking. At the end of the meal, when the server stopped by for the first time since our dishes arrived, we requested to speak with the manager about the quality of the meal and the wait time. The manager did not come by and neither did our server to update us on how long she might be. We eventually gave up on the manager, paid the bill and left (which I'm SURE she was counting on). There are too many better restaurants in the area, Marco's to name just one, to waste a meal on haughty service and cold dishes.
Poor form from an old staple

I used to come here regularly, both to the farm and to the barn (the bar side), I have always loved the food and honestly they make the best veggie burger in the area. I went there for brunch however and had a very upsetting experience; we were seated outside and it was particularly crowded because it was a beautiful day and there was a baby shower going on, so I can understand that perhaps our food took a particularly long time to come out of the kitchen. All of this I can forgive, I can even forgive their confusion which meant that on three separate occasions they brought us the wrong food. What I am very disappointed about is that they forgot one of our orders, then brought it out when everyone else had mostly finished eating, promising to comp the dish (as they should have) and then reneged on the promise, offering us instead one free coffee. Poor form Flatbush Farm, poor form.
Delicious Food, Fantastic Cocktails

The pear martini and Garden Snake were killer drinks. Delicious and sneaky; they roll up on you nice and smooth and before you know it, your eyes are glassy and giving looks to anyone that'll notice. Get the corn cake and mussels appetizers - that's a terrific meal. And those little potatoes that come with the chicken entree are to-die-a-thousand-deaths-for. Eat there, then eat there again.

over the last few months i've gone to this place at least 5 times; i love the lamb dish and have had some great brunches here. the best part is the giant outdoor patio behind the restaurant.

the food here is terrific (i recently had a great burger) and the decor is great. the place is huge and the staff are super friendly; this place is definitely a local standby for me and my girlfriend.
local go-to spot

i've gone to this spot on multiple occasions, for brunch and both indoor and outdoor dinner, and never encountered any of the 'problems' with service mentioned in some of the reviews. the food, while not unusual or novel in any way, has been delicious and I've never experienced any abnormal wait times. the decor is fantastic and the back patio shared between the bar and restaurant is truly a gem!
Great food, questionable service

I've eaten here several times for dinner and brunch. The food is always good, excellent seasonal dinner menu, brunch menu offers a variety of dishes, and the hash browns on the side are amazing and unlike anything else. On one occasion at dinner, our service was fantastic - but at all other times it was terrible. i was there this past Sunday and got my own silverware because our food had come and our server never came back after asking several people numerous times. Maybe they should start writing their orders down to start, and start hiring servers that actually know how to serve. The food and reasonable prices keep my friends and I coming back because we live in the neighborhood. If they could fix the service issue - I'd start recommending people travel to the neighborhood to sample.

We had reservations for 15 people at 6:30pm. They seated us immediateley, but however we were not acknowledged until 7pm. Then the drinks were ordered and were served at about 7:20. The actual ordering of food was about and hour later after being seated. The food was served at 8:30pm. The service was the worst I have ever had. Two couples ordered the steak for two, and they put it on ONE BIG plate. The waiter came to see that out food was all there and when it was discovered our order was not, ( we were one of the couples that ordered steak for two) he brought back his written down order and said, "thats all that was ordered." Thats when it was discovered that our order was on the same plate as the first couples. The waiter then brought us two plates and expected us to pass the big plate down the table. One of our guest said, "please take this back and serve it correctley." The total bill was $574.00 and included was a $75 tip. as there was no service.

This place is totally over-hyped. The service is spotty, the food - just okay, bordering on bleh. I have a problem with high prices for "farm-style" food when they serve the food with paper napkins and the wine is served (no matter what the price or how fine a wine)in thick juice glasses. Trendy? Farm-style? or just plain cheap? I don't mind paying the price for farm friendly food if it is good, but clearly here the food is just okay so the question arises...why the absurd attitude?
