This has become my standby neighborhood restaurant when people are visiting. The hangar steak is to die for, as is the steak tartare and escargot. Service can be a little slow, but they are incredibly nice. It is intimate enough for a date but laid-back enough to take your favorite cousin. Unpretentious, casual, and delicious. Also, between 5-7 pm you can get a 3 course dinner for $18, with a glass of wine or beer...You will not be disappointed!

The brunch special, although not inclusive of a cocktail, is an excellent deal- this time we had a burger and the 'oeufs benedict'- both were scrumptious. and, for only $4, you can add a bloody mary or a mimosa or screwdriver- the bloody marys are spicy goodness- way better than anything you'd get at tired Sarabeths, and about a third of the price. the service was prompt and polite, and even though the restaurant was busy, we were allowed to sit for 45 minutes after we were done with our food- and they refilled our coffees. I live on the UWS- worth the trip? always!

Went to the F.M.C. on 3/21/09 after having not been in a few years. Happy to say barely a change in the place (maybe the lighting was slightly brighter). The food was excellent, matched by great service. The escargots were garlicky perfection. The pate was so more-ish that we would have gladly taken a second order home. The steak was cooked beautifully and accompanied by fab frites. Authentic Parisian bistro cuisine - the Left Bank comes to the East Village.

Though we had to sit at the bar because there was a party of 50(!), we enjoyed our view of the bustling restaurant. There was a nice selection of wines to keep us busy as we waited for our food, with French acid jazz music filtering from the speakers. The food came quickly and was excellent. Pastachio Salmon and Duck Confit w/ a pile of frites kept us full for the rest of the night. The bill was very reasonable, highly recommneded!

This funky little french restaurant is in the heart of the east village and has some of the best priced french food in the city. The brunch menue is spectacular and the dinner menue is fantastic for the prices, not to mention one of the best burgers around.

I recently went to The Flea Market Café. It is filled with hipsters and French food enthusiasts. The little do-dads you see all around you make you think you're in a restaurant in Angres in 1960. Then you look out and see Tompkins Square Park. The staff are all very nice and will be happy to help with any little problems you have with your food. Of the three plates I had, every serving was excellent. I strongly suggest going to the Flea Market Café.
