Amazing! Attentive (but not too intrusive) service, minimal (but warm) decor, and fabulous food (always creative, without being over-the-top simply for the sake of being artistic). This is definitely one of the best restaurants (luckily it's underrated, so many miss out on this jewel) in NYC. If it were cheaper, I'd probably eat here at least once a week!

I don't usually write reviews but this time I have to say that this restaurant is brilliant. We went there last week on our visit to NY from The Netherlands to celebrate my fathers sixtieth birthday (I noted that on the reservation over opentable). The welcome was very nice and so was the amuse of Bacalhaumousse. All four of us had wonderfull starters, I had Goats Cheese Ravioli myself, and the main courses (we all chose fish) were sublime. With dessert my father got an extra plate with an extra dessert and a little candle. We all thought that was very nice of the staff. On leaving we all got a small cake to take home. I didn't expect to find such a charming small restaurant in NYC and can recommend visiting Fleur de Sel to everyone.

I went to Fleur de Sel for lunch with a friend who was visiting the city. We were looking for somewhere quiet, where we could sit as long as we wanted to, and be served good food in an un-distracting setting. That is exactly what Fleur de Sel is good for. The food is just like the decor-- clean, basic, and comfortable. While all was very good, the buttersquash soup with coconut foam was the high point-- would go back for that alone.

I took my fiance here for her birthday. We were turned away for showing up 15 minutes early. Which kind of pissed me off, but I kind of got it because there is absolutely NO waiting area. Once we returned on time we were promptly seated. The decor is simple yet elegant, our service was prompt and attentive. And the food was AMAZING. I had the Goat Cheese and Artichoke Ravioli, which I'll admit did not taste of artichoke, but was good nonetheless. The Pistachio Crusted Venison was well cooked and all of the food was very nicely presented. My desert was particluarly incredible. A fried peanutbutter and jelly with nougat ice cream and blew my freakin mind. Overall this was an excellent restaurant and well worth the price.

The decor is pretty simple, but of good taste. However, the service, is not very attentive. It took them 10-15 min to give us the menu, but then they served us so quickly, we understood they wanted us out as soon as possible. Food in good but not very inventive, I took the ravioli of goat and artichoke, but I never got the taste of the artichokes, however, the beet juice was a good idea. Not a bad restaurant, but we expected something better.

My wife and two friends had a great experience here. From the beginning to end. It is hard to find a restaurant where the staff is just as great as the food. We receive first class service. They seem to have trained their staff very well. We asked a few questions and got precise answers about our dishes, their reccomendations were right on the money. We all took a culinary journey with the six course tasting and matched along side was our wine pairing. I didn't realize how much work is put in to pairing the dishes with wines. Perfectly, and I mean 'Perfectly' matched to draw out the flavors. Everyone should try this place, I've heard wonderful things, I didn't realize to what magnitude.

I am French and living in NYC. My wife and I took my dad to Fleur de Sel when he came to visit us from Brittany in November. We were all very impressed with the food. My starter was a fois gras cooked with a trufle reduction and rose flower (!). It was a subtil and original combination of flavor and spices that made this dish one of the best fois gras I ever had. My main was a grilled poussin with fois gras (yes I am a big fan of fois gras!) and it did not disappoint! The place is expensive (prix fix around $65) but it worth every penny. It also refreshing to have a high end French restaurant in NY that is not packed with investment bankers in pin stripped suits. This restaurant has a cozy/chic feeling that match the great food.

Went on anniversary and Monday night wine series. 1/2 price wine a big plus! Goat cheese/artichoke ravioli was superb, as was chocolate souffle. Small, intimate, perfect.
