The new Tuscan chef at Mix totally gets it. His cooking is simple but elegant, with clean, beautifully delineated flavors matched by a well thought out wine list that truly complements the food so well. The prices are bit steep, but it's worth the money. Service is attentive and professional. I'd definitely go back.

Upon arrival this place looks like it has a great atmosphere and unique decor. Once seated though and things change for the worse. The fixed menu's (a vegetarian menu is available) leave you at the chefs disposal. In typical French style you will only eat what the chef wants you too. Long gaps in serving the dishes with no explanations from the waiter or host suggest a shambolic kitchen. We left after waiting 25 minutes for our entrees. I cannot imagine how this place stays in business for much longer. Overpriced and over here.

How the reputedly "world's best chef" could put his name on this ridiculously expensive average place is beyond me. While the food and service are ok, the prices and pretention are very high. You can do much better for a fraction of the price. I give them another year till they either dramatically change their way, or they fold.

One imagines the staff (as well as Alain Ducasse and Jeffery Chodorow) must be laughing at the customers. Though the food tastes very good, the portions are tiny, the prices are exorbitant, and there is nothing particularly exceptional about the service or decor. I cannot think of another restaurant in New York where I have felt so taken advantage of. If you break down the $72 prix fixe, the tuna steak--or rather the three niblets of tuna I was served--costs approximately $50.00. Any returning diners must truly hate themselves; the money would be better spent on therapy.

I was so impressed was the attentive and knowledgable staff. The food was almost to pretty to eat. The flavors made your mouth water. Just when I thought it couldnt get any better the desserts were straight out of a gourmet magazine. The desserts were like eating a mona lisa,so beautiful to look at too nice to put your fork into.

Mix was truly an experience...! The decor puts you in a very original surrounding mixed with pastel colours & special effects....Service was impeccable and the sommelier gave great by the glass recommendations. The Smoked duck salad, & the wonderful swordfish were above expectations, but the Profiterolles were a little "below" (chocolate sauce especially...Overall the place to be on a date for a good "mix of everything you need"

Mix has a terrific sleak and cool decor, the service is attentive and kind but unfortunately the third component, the food, is a true disappointment. The dishes are difficult to eat, some food is served in simple plastic bowls and when receiving the check I felt like having been robbed. It's just not worth the money. Instead, I would recommend you to go there for a drink only. Then you can enjoy the beautiful design without having to spend a fortune for the disappointing food.
