A welcome addition to the neighborhood, Franny's makes mouth watering pizza that comes out of their oven with the ingredients bubbling on top of a wonderful crusty base. The night we were there we had ramps for an appetizer and they were smashing! We'll go back again and again!

The pennypinching naysayers writing reviews here are absolutely wrong. This is the best pizza in New York. No, it's not the cheapest - just the best. If you want cheap, then there are a few thousand slice joints I can point you to. This is the good stuff - fresh, thin crust pizza with simple toppings. Worth making the trip to Brooklyn whether or not you have other plans in the nabe.

Ignore the complaints. Franny's cocktails are among the best in New York or anywhere else for that matter. The wine list is dynamic and interesting. Contrary to other reviews, it is fairly priced. The pizza is the best in new york. Is it cheap for pizza? no. However, franny's is an exceptional value when compared to other restaurants of similar quality. I no longer live in New York, but i do drive up from philly every other month to go to dinner....at franny's of course.

New York Magazine rated Frannys as number three in the best pizza in New York in 2009. I would suggest that Frannys is in fact better than Keste. Their pizzas are much lighter, more delicate and less doughy. The ambiance and the service is top notch. Note: In the summer months, be sure to dine out on their garden patio.

My favorite NYC restaurant! Great seasonal apps and pastas. And of course great pizza!

I've eaten at Franny's twice now, and been very pleased both times. The food is really superb, and they manage to make the place feel fancy and casual at the same time. The garden in back was a nice surprise last time we were there. Can't wait for hot summer evenings to sit out there and drink wine and eat pizza. I am so happy they are in the neighborhood -- we needed a place like this. The waiters were nice, too and very attentive.

Although the restaurant was crowded (and you'll understand why after the food), the service was excellent and the food was AMAZING (I recommend you try the kale crostini, pumpkin fritto, or white pizza)! More than your average pizza in NYC but with ingrediants like these, I can understand why. I wish the owners would open a second one in Carroll Gardens!

A few years ago, my wife and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Naples and have true Neapolitan pizza, in neighborhood joints in the center of the old city. When we got back to Brooklyn we thought we'd never see the like again. And then Franny's opened up three blocks from our apartment -- bella Napoli right on Flatbush Avenue. The light, crispy crust is as close to the Neapolitan ideal as I've ever had outside of Naples itself. Our current favorite at Franny's comes with zucchini blossoms and anchovies, just like you'd get in the Spaccanapoli district. In addition, we usually have one or two of the light appetizers like squid or marinated eggplant, or one of the salumi. Maybe something from the extensive wine list, or finish with an amaro from the bar. We try to get there at opening time to avoid the rush, but the staff is always gracious no matter how busy things get. I realize that I should try to come up with some negative things to say, to make my review sound more "balanced." Okay, the tables are too close together. But even there, we've often had amusing conversations with strangers at adjacent tables, when each party eyed the other party's appetizers and wanted to compare notes. Not all restaurants have such a festive air about them.

Whats with all the bad reviews? Frannys is a Brooklyn institution now and is fabulous, every time. Theres a reason why theres a long wait, because its that good & people keep coming back. Its not your average pizza parlor so why even compare it to Grimaldis? Its a classic, seemingly effortless restaurant that derives its ambience from the lively chatter inside, rather than overpowering music. Especially good dishes are the pizza with provolone piccante & onions; and the bucatini (thick spaghetti). And the wine, oh, the wine... you will always have amazingly bewitching wine here, and dont be afraid to ask the server whats good for your palate. I find the service great--theyre casual and friendly yet professional. They always have new seasonal appetizers that are the true genius & keep me coming back to see what they come up with. True, the wait can be long, so show up early. Its not a cheap eat so dont expect that. It will be worth it.

This place is great for Brooklynites but also worth the trip for Manhattanites. Frannys is known for their pizza but the pastas, salads and appetizers are just as good. All the veggies are seasonal and fresh. The service is top notch. I have no complaints about Frannys and can't wait to go back!
