Save yourself some cash--buy some Boboli and burn it in your oven with a bit of cheese--you now have delicious pizza jerky that you can chew on during long trips. If you'd rather wait in line to cram yourself into a tiny table and spend a lot of money to eat a glorified pizza cracker, go to Franny's. In both cases, bring a jar of sauce. It's dry! I don't want to detract from the service however. The bartender made me a mediocre martini, but did it quickly and asked me how it was. The host and waiter were both focused and efficient. But really, the pizza was god-awful, and pricey! Go to Saraghina instead.

no question that the food is good but why does pizza have to be this expensive and precious. clearly alot of the wealthy brooklyn lemmings feel it is but frannys should be avoided unless you want a heap of expense and attitude with your pie.

A few years ago, my wife and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Naples and have true Neapolitan pizza, in neighborhood joints in the center of the old city. When we got back to Brooklyn we thought we'd never see the like again. And then Franny's opened up three blocks from our apartment -- bella Napoli right on Flatbush Avenue. The light, crispy crust is as close to the Neapolitan ideal as I've ever had outside of Naples itself. Our current favorite at Franny's comes with zucchini blossoms and anchovies, just like you'd get in the Spaccanapoli district. In addition, we usually have one or two of the light appetizers like squid or marinated eggplant, or one of the salumi. Maybe something from the extensive wine list, or finish with an amaro from the bar. We try to get there at opening time to avoid the rush, but the staff is always gracious no matter how busy things get. I realize that I should try to come up with some negative things to say, to make my review sound more "balanced." Okay, the tables are too close together. But even there, we've often had amusing conversations with strangers at adjacent tables, when each party eyed the other party's appetizers and wanted to compare notes. Not all restaurants have such a festive air about them.

This place is great for Brooklynites but also worth the trip for Manhattanites. Frannys is known for their pizza but the pastas, salads and appetizers are just as good. All the veggies are seasonal and fresh. The service is top notch. I have no complaints about Frannys and can't wait to go back!

I've been to Franny's three times now and haven't had a bad experience yet. The pizza is Neapolitan-esque and quite good. The pastas are also excellent and make choosing pizza over them hard even. In general the service is very friendly and competent, but my only complaint would be that the pacing can be a bit rushed on a busy night.

The pizza is pretty good but is not the best pizza in New York. Went on a Tuesday night and the service was terrible. I would not go back.

New York Magazine rated Frannys as number three in the best pizza in New York in 2009. I would suggest that Frannys is in fact better than Keste. Their pizzas are much lighter, more delicate and less doughy. The ambiance and the service is top notch. Note: In the summer months, be sure to dine out on their garden patio.

Ignore the complaints. Franny's cocktails are among the best in New York or anywhere else for that matter. The wine list is dynamic and interesting. Contrary to other reviews, it is fairly priced. The pizza is the best in new york. Is it cheap for pizza? no. However, franny's is an exceptional value when compared to other restaurants of similar quality. I no longer live in New York, but i do drive up from philly every other month to go to dinner....at franny's of course.

Charging $9 for 2 scoops of gelato should be a sin... tasted great but two PINTS of Ciao Bella is $10.
