Despite seeing a few mixed reviews, we gave FR.OG a try and it was well worth it. First off, the grilled bread/pita they serve is addictive. It is good that they bring a plate when they serve drinks/appetizers and a second plate with you entree. I noticed every table finished both plates. The peekytoe crab appetizer is one of the best starters in NY, and a steal given all the fresh crab served. The pork belly entree was delicious - I was a bit hesitant to try this as a main, but it was worth it. The grilled lam chops were also excellent. The only minor issue was that service was a bit flaky (but friendly). I was told after I placed the order that they couldn't make my cocktail order (an Aviation Cocktail, listed on their drink menu), so I chose a Hemingway Dacquairi instead. When the drinks were served, the waitress said "Here's your Captain Morgan". Turned out to be the Aviation, and was very good.

This place was a wonderful surprise. I live nearby but had somehow not come across it. They have taken a lot of thought and care with the food and the decor. Will definitely go back soon. The starters are just delish. Cocktails are unusual and worth trying.

What a lovely evening we had at Fr.Og! Bright decor that transported us out of the dreary rainy city (make sure to check out the bathrooms), attentive service, and excellent perfectly portioned food. Our favorite appetizers were the nem (pork spring rolls--perfectly spiced but could have been a tad crispier) and the foie gras. And all the mains we tried were excellent; the crisp and balanced duck pastilla and spicy 'colossal shrimp' were stand-outs. Dessert was also great; we loved the souffle and the stuffed dates... Overall a great restaurant with a lot of potential! It was a bit empty and the music was a little too campy night club, but we will all certainly return some time soon!
