The value is great and food is excellent. I heard that there will be another Galanga opening soon on 9th Ave and 18th street.
Duck salad and shrimp with green curry sauce are my favorite.

Thai food with a dull sigh. Awkward waitresses with passive aggressive attitudes. I can't think of a better word to describe my extraordinarily watered down experience, but boring! How is Thai food boring? Tom Yum was a kindergarten play date, and I never received my coconut soup. The duck spring rolls, more like vegetarian tofu spring rolls; although presented quite nicely atop a bed of shredded beets and an orchid. Curry. Oh my god. That was the kicker! Watered down, undesirable, bowl of fool's gold. Overall, walk past and fast.

The spicy treats available here are really good. It's a great night in option too with speedy delivery. My only complaint is when I call they can't understand the order and I can't hear them due to the seriously loud kitchen noise. It's very off putting and I wonder what will be delivered. When it is delivered it is very very good.

My dinner at Galanga last night was decidedly mixed. While I enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant - dark wood and a cozy casual vibe - the restaurant is not put together for comfort, but rather a quick good value Thai bite.
We ordered the basil duck rolls, the green papaya salad, the seafood ceviche salad and a side of the roasted galanga rice.
The basil duck rolls, while delicately fried, showed no sign of either duck or basil. The pineapple sauce accompaniment did nothing for it.
The seafood ceviche salad was clearly off. Instead of having a clean briny taste, the seafood was warmish and had a putrid undercurrent. We sent it back.
The other two dishes were excellent. The green papaya salad was spicy, glistening and fresh although could have done with more peanuts. The roasted galanga rice is unlike any other rice I've had in the city, studded with fried garlic, scallions, galanga root and fried basil. Amazing flavors.
I'm not sure I'd go back...

I've only been once on a Saturday night, so don't have the perspective of frequent patrons. We loved our dinner though--authentic Thai food with excellent, friendly service. Restaurant feels a little cramped and it was a bit loud. Food is not incredibly spicy, even the drunken noodles which receive their highest spice rating are only moderately hot. Try the golden calamari. Overall a good value.

I am a frequent lunch time patron of Galanga because they offer a cheap ($6.50) lunch special that is quick and much better than most cheap Thai food. With the exception of a bland pad Thai (not my favorite dish generally) I've enjoyed every lunch special I've tried. My only complaints are that the preparation is inconsistent, ranging from really, really good to ok (greasy curries for example); and that service is always stretched thin. All in all, a great spot for an inexpensive but satisfying meal.

Very good service. Cozy space. Although the food was clean and good, it was too neutral and bland for me (my ginger chicken had no bite). I was rather unpleasantly surprised that they do not have a spice tray; instead I was given a cup of bright red processed chili sauce that one would normally find in lower priced Asian eateries.

I am a frequent on Saturday. The waitress there speaks thai and english fluently. I have been impressed by her diligent service. Food is great, but the taste has changed from time to time. Kitchen can be loud. I can hear it from the dining room.
