While it is not offensive, you'd have to be in the mood for sushi, not good sushi, to go with Geido. Taking a date or business assoociates would be a mistake if you are trying to impress. Geido is a fairly good value, a huge meal for under $20. The sushi, however, is not special, so an 8 or 9 for food is completely unwarranted. The "white tuna" was instead some other sort of seared fish that was tasteless. The salmon sashimi is much nicer: thin, flat slices of fairly tasty fish, but I'd still put lemon on it because it is not always fresh. The "spicy" rolls are not spicy, especially the ultra-bland vegetable roll -- the tuna roll is not good either. The highlight, sushi-wise, are actually the vegetable rolls, which are larger, made with more care, and much more flavorful. They serve a nice inari sushi, but it is not on the menu. The restaurant is oddly laid out, such that every table gets a piece of the draft from the door. They do not delivery. All in all, a high 5 out of 10, but more is simply kind..

Go to Geido as your every day sushi place. Order the Spicy Kaisen Nabe when it's cold outside. Go to Taro Sushi when you want to mix things up or if you want to eat in a quieter, more intimate setting. Go to Blue Ribbon Sushi for your extra $pecial occasions.

Stunningly executed Japanese standards (the chicken katsu and the curry rice are both marvelous and authentic), rather good sushi with some neat/daring options like the natto roll, with a couple neat homestyle dishes (stewed salmon and vegetables) and some of the street food of the kind you get in St Mark's Pl (I heart their okonomiyaki). Hideous/charming decor (hand-painted). A mellow, diverse crowd. Pros: good chance of running into someone you want to see in the neighborhood. Cons: the people you don't want to see probably eat here, too.
