Went here with a group of 6 and we were pulled in by the alluring menu and fair prices, and were not disappointed. The bresaola appetizer with arugula, olive tapenade, and parmesan crisps was flavorful without being overbearing. The pumpkin gnocchi with parmesan cream sauce was dense and rich, but the pumpkin flavor got lost in the sauce. The ricotta/spinach dumplings in sage and brown butter were likewise expectantly rich, but the modest portion size ensured satisfaction without overstuffing. The flavors were great, but it could have used a touch more salt. We shared tiramisu and found it was well balanced between the creamy mascarpone cheese and intense espresso soaked cake. Our waiter was helpful in picking out wine, and on the whole, the entire staff was very attentive and friendly. The décor was clean and modern, and very comfortable. There was a steady stream (trickle?) of customers, but at no time did the restaurant fill up. Despite the relative calm, the other patrons seemed upbeat so the atmosphere was relaxed, and never stifling. Overall, the food was a solid “good”, but the atmosphere, service, and reasonable prices improved the quality and value of our experience.

this cozey italian eatery is what 2008 is all about. the decor and the food are both so defined that you can rarely find in the village. If you ask to the owner, ' what is the concept behind the restaurant?' you will find the stubborn but very thoughtful and sophistication answer from him. i love the restaurant, the food and the people.

In a city filled with Italian restaurants, it's a welcome surprise to stumble on a new place that meets all the requirements for a great night out. Giano offfers the perfect mix of cozy atmosphere, super friendly service and, most importantly, fabulous Italian food. I went with friends to have a few drinks and liked the vibe so much that we decided to stay and sample the tapas menu. The beautiful tables at the front or 'modern' area were comfortable and casual..the menu offered original and exiting selections that were beautifully paired by the excellent wine choice of one of the friendly down-to-earth (and cute!) owners. The choices were so delicious that we stayed for dinner and especially enjoyed the maltagliati with lamb ragu. I've since been back twice for dinner with friends who were impressed by the beautiful design and authentic menu. The pastas are fabulous; you can taste the fresh ingredients in every eclectic dish from tagliatelle with bottarga to prosciutto wrapped monkfish. Whether you're in the mood for drinks, a quick bite or full blown dinner date ,Giano covers it all.

This place is special. The hosts were warm and gracious. The food was interesting and approachable. It will be a happening joint in the warmer months, but now in the cold it is nice to cozy up to the well-lit bar and unwind. I will go back.

I had such a wonderful experience at Giano. I went with a few friends for my birthday and had hands down the best steak I have ever had in NYC. The owners are warm, gracious and very helpful with the menu. They went above and beyond my expectations. I can't wait to go back!

We were waiting for something like that for so long....GIANO is an experience.Great food, very well designed and friendly while not intrusive service makes everyone feel like your needs are at the center of the staff care, you don't have to worry about nothing ,"just enjoy"..I'm positively surpriced of what the the three owners ( Agostina,Matteo,Paolo) achieved, and the food that chef Gianfranco makes is the cherry on top of a perfect cake. The menu makes you want to order everything...and everythng you try is perfectly served and done like nothing is missed.

Regarding Italian food less is more, as fresh ingredients are the key of delicious plates. Giano chef Gianfranco has the ability to keeping that in mind and in hand, and to glam the plate up creating amazing combinations of flavors who will make your palate drool. I still had the delicious taste of the lamb chops ( covered in an almond and pistachioÂ’s flour ) few hours and many proseccos laterÂ… As an Italian who knows and enjoy cooking like his grandmother taught him, I am very rarely impressed by Italian restaurants but I have already been back to GianoÂ’s 3 times since it opens and decided it deserves a reviewÂ…. The barman Paolo itÂ’s always very attentive in making sure you are never left with your glass empty and waitress Ago with her platinum energy will make your dinner one of the most enjoyable and friendly as you ever had in a so many times NOT so warm-friendly New York City.
