I have lived in NYC many many years, and rarely have I received the kind of wonderful service I got last night from the superb staff at Gnocco. I had a farewell party there in the garden for 37 people. Not only is the garden beautiful on a summer night, but it served as the perfect place to have a large group (yet intimate) for a lovely dinner. Stefano the fantastic manager helped organize the dinner for me in advance and gave me the option of prix fixe or a la carte. I was expecting food to roll out throughout the night, but to my amazement, all 37 dishes arrived within minutes of each other - this was incredibly impressive. Guests ordered everything from apps to homemade pasta to salads and steak and fish - all prepared and delivered with care and detail. The menu is exceptional and diverse, and authentically Italian as very clearly only the freshest ingredients are used. Delicious! The staff was welcoming and kind to me and all of my guests. I have been a regular at Gnocco for years, and it is one place that deserves to stay for many more years to come. If you have not yet been to this East Village gem, go there. It is exceptional. THANK YOU GNOCCO!

i hosted a private party at gnocco and although the food was very very good there were many issues that embarrassed me as the host. I had ordered table cloths and there were none, I asked that soda be served for those not wanting san gria and was told bt Jessica it would be available and it was not served, one table never received the salad, the dessert sampling was only served to some tables and when asked that more dessert be served I was told no! and only reluctantly was the coffee served. I was very embarrassed by this service and attitude.

I've been to this place twice and have had great experiences each time. The place is best for groups of 5 or less, and the food is excellent at not such high prices. The service is mediocre and the food sometimes takes a long time, but it is definately worth it. Great Italian pizza and pasta dishes.

I don't get what all the fuss is over Gnocco. The first time I went there my experience was pleasant enough, and I found all of our pasta dishes fine, and then when I went to give it a second chance I was thoroughly underwhelmed. All of our food, even the famous gnocco dough balls, were mediocre at best. My branzino was fishy and seemed to have been defrosted recently. A regular salad with corn, apples and pinenuts- something hard to mess up- was limp and weak, the apples tasted like they had been soaked in vinegar or lemon juice to stay fresh. Above all, our waiter messed up a dish, took 20 minutes to bring out the right one, and then refused to take it off the bill. The staff seems to get overwhelmed and careless on a busy night. I will never go back here, there are so many better finds in the EV for Italian!!

Not impressed by the food at all- would never go back. The pastas were stale and had no flavor at all, especially the pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were popcorn size- very small!! As soon as we finished dinner, the waitor told us to leave because he wanted to seat other people! That just ruined it for us!
