Words can not explain how amazing I thought this restaurant was. And a great and sincere thanks needs to be paid to www.eateryexpert.com for recommending that I go here. I went for dinner with friend and needless to say I'm going again. I ate in the tavern and next time would like to try the dining room.

We had dinner on a Sunday evening just after the first of the year. We arrived early for dinner so had drinks in the bar first. The hot chocolate martini was delightful and like no other.
We had the 3 course dinner but actually had 6 courses with all the wonderful little extras and tastey bites from the chef. The roast pork was better than any I've ever eaten in a restaurant. The chocolate peanut butter dessert was devine. The chocolate bread pudding was also good but nothing special like the other dessert. The muffins that were sent with us at the end of the meal made for pleasant memories the next day at breakfast.
Thank you!

My husband and I are from London and went to get married in NYC in August. We went to the Gramercy Tavern for the celebration after the wedding and it finished the day perfectly. I couldn't have asked for better service or better food. I tell everyone i meet who's going to New York to eat here!
I'm allergic to dairy, but every dish i had they made sure, and specifically told me, was dairy free, and told me which of the tasting menu dishes were too.
We were treated so well. The waiters congratulated us, gave us champagne, we were treated to taster dishes between our courses, and were seated at a fantastic quiet table in the corner (there were only 3 of us)
I don't eat in places like this that often, and I'm quite young so was worried that the atmosphere might be uncomfortable, and staff might be a little snotty. I couldn't have been more wrong. The staff were really professional and courteous, and the atmosphere warm and inviting.
They made it a really special and memorable evening, and hopefully we will be back next year to celebrate our anniversary!

I brought my GF here last night (Thursday night) for her 30th b-day, banking on the fact that this would be one of her greatest dining experiences ever...as it had been mine on many occasions since the year it had opened.
While the service and decor are still top-notch, the food I am sad to say, was nothing more than plain old average. Average ingredients, average seasoning, average preparation and average presentation. How the mighty have fallen.
I still get excited thinking about the perfectly seared foie gras with a wild berry glaze, the crispy and perfectly seasoned sweetbreads and mouth watering red wine braised beef cheeks that me and my family used to joyfully battle over.
It's strange to say, but I am deeply saddened by my experience last night. Gramercy Tavern is a fundamental component of my culinary history in NYC and it is gone. Even the impeccable service and inspiring decor will not bring me back.
Adieu Gramercy Tavern, I shall miss you and hold you in fondest of memories.

Went there for a birthday dinner, the service is legendary, and well orchestrated. The Autumn tasting menu was great, my favorite was the duck confit dish, although i think the duck confit at Union Sq Cafe taste a little better - maybe cos its just a tasting portion. The pre-dessert icecream was amazing. I thought one of the chocolates tasted very familiar...until a friend pointed out its peanut butter - like Reese's! Ok guess i didn't expect that at Gramercy Tavern!.

Perfect 10! Experience, taste, quality and service! This place is special and they do their best to ensure that you have a perfect evening. The service is beyond impeccable. There are so many people there to ensure that your every wish is fulfilled. The food is also amazing! We never felt rushed and also never felt like we were waiting for the next course to be served, they really have the prefect balance. The Kampachi and the Foie Gras Custard were both so Delicious. The Grouper was out of this world, just perfect! For dessert the Chocolate Mousse Swirled With Mint Bavarian was so perfect! I don't think it really matters what you order here, it will all be delicious and you will have a remarkable experience.

You expect to go to Gramercy Tavern and have a perfect night. Well, they make you to.
Serious in the reservation (you will seat at the exact hour you booked, no stupid wait at the bar routine), impecable service (you feel like you are having a personal waiter, one just for you who oversees your needs), not too posh that you might feel unease, and amazing food. The handmade pappardelle could have been served in the best Italian, the warm chocolate pudding is delicious.
Go: you won't be disappointed!

Gramercy Tavern is simply one of the best restaurants to dine at in Manhattan. From the hostess to the coat-check woman to the wait-staff and even employees who were not associated with our care, everyone was helpful, friendly, and had a smile on their face. There was a sense that they wanted to be there and that they wanted to take care of you; something that is missing in a lot of the other great restaurants in Manhattan. The food was simple, elegant, perfect. The smoked trout appetizer was light, flavorful and the perfect starter to an incredible meal. The entree consisted of short-ribs ravioli which was one of the best dishes I've ever had in my life; the beef flavorful and a perfectly cooked medium-rare, the components of the dishes complemented each other and the raviolis literally melted in my mouth. Given the combination of the warmth of the space itself alongside the friendliness exuded the staff and the elegant, simple yet-flavorful nature of the cooking, this was by far one of my best dining experiences in the city and I cannot wait to return.

If ever there was a perfect restaurant, Tallivent in Paris is it. Since the arrival of Michael Anthony, Gramercy Tavern has returned to its perch as NY's best restaurant.
The service here is as perfect as that at Tallivent. All of the staff, not just those attending to you, are attentive and professional. The food is not as 'fussy' as that in Paris, but delicious and creative in its own way.
Wineaux rejoice at the breadth of the list. Decisions are the hard part, so let the staff do the pairings.

Admittedly there are many restaurants I haven't been to yet, but of the ones I have been to, Gramercy Tavern was by far the best. From the bread choices to the little muffin they give you "for the next morning," every single detail at Gramercy is spot-on. I had the Autumn tasting menu (GT is particularly "homey" in the Fall), and I can only describe it as perfect. Even the vegetarian option I chose to replace the shellfish course with was fabulous. Our dinner took about 4 hours, and I don't think I would recommend it any other way. Another nice feature is the good amount of space in the room, and round tables for parties of four.
