I like that this place is hidden. We walked by a few times until we finally realized where it was. And inside we were greeted first with a bar that just felt so comfy, cozy, and warm. Everyone minds their own business...a great feeling considering that it's very small and you are sometimes sharing a table with strangers. Food is outstanding and speaks for itself. I just had the most relaxing and chill time with a few of my friends. Perfect oasis away from the city above it.

I had really high expectations for this little place after reading the reviews on nymag.com....and let me tell you - I was not disappointed, quite the contrary actually. I was pleasantly surprised. This was truly one of the best restaurants I have been to in the City. I love the fact that it is a little hidden gem, and the service was fantastic. The food out of this world, and the prices were not over the top. I loved the atmosphere of this quaint and friendly establishment..... Will be going back and back and back again....

Our favorite underground restaurant has now a new cocktail menu including the old classics and some new flavors such as a raspberry/ basil martini, or a pear martini that tastes like my grandmothers pie. The staff was fun and helpful, the food as always was excellent, and the place turned into a great party at the end of our dinner, where we listened to great music and sipped our drinks.

Grotto is my favorite place to dine when I want the best, most innovative and relaxing evening that is all about food and all about me! I bring my out of town company as well as local friends here as often as I can. Chef Lauren Collura is brilliant and simpatico. Do not hesitate, go there now! You will not be disappointed! The Carbonara is out of this world, every entree is my favorite, and do not miss the flourless chocolate cake! Grotto, a journey worth taking.

A friend recommended the restaurant and last Friday we decided to go and now I regret not having gone sooner. The food was spectacular and the service was superb. I loved dealing with a knowledgeable wait staff and even had the pleasure of meeting the gracious and fabulous Chef. Anyone who wants 5 star treatment should definitely go and enjoy the Grotto experience. I know I will be back.

You almost need a map to find the X that marks the spot on this hidden little treasure. This is one of my favorite restaurants. It's where I go when I want to have a sinful treat. I love the food there. The dishes are as delicious as they are beautiful. The service couldn't be more outstanding. Your every need and desire are tended to. It's the perfect place to go with your sweetheart for a special night out.
