Tasty food and nice atmosphere. We sat fairly close to the stage where the 4-piece band howled out some Cuban tunes. Unfortunately, they were twice as loud as they should be for a restaurant of this caliber. If we were in a night club 4x the size, they would be just right. In this smaller space; teeth shattering. We mentioned this to the staff and my guess is that it gets solved at some point, hopefully. We would go back, however, as the food was hot and full of flavors.

Well I'll have to say I didn't they would get it right but to my surprise they did! The food was exellent, and the personalized service I recieved was second to none. I called and made my reservation for my 16th wedding anniversary with some minor special details that they did to perfection. The manager was very attentive to every detail I had requested......and oh yeah did I mention the food was very good! I highly recomend if you are in the mood for some good spanish cuisine then this is the place, the music is good and the ambiance outstanding (if you like music while you eat). If you want something more intimate and private ask to be seated downstairs the lighting is very dimm....very romantic/personal. and music not loud at all.

Great music, average food

While the live band surely kept me entertained during my visit there, the food left something to be desired. I had the lechon and it was dry and the portion was stingy compared to other Cuban restaurants I've been to. My friend had the shrimp creole and loved it....I would go back for the music, but not the food!

I really think this people went to a different restaurant. The prices are very modest for a midtown restaurant. The Music is one of the best Latin bands I ever heard, with marvelous solos and the sound of the congas make you dance even if you are not a dancer. The waiters and the rest of the staff were very attentive and very funny. If you are looking for restaurant to book your party this is a place to go. You are going to have a wonderful time with a very good REAL Cuban food
Absolutely awful experience--will never go back

We had the absolute worst experience at this place. We were a group of 6 and had a reservation for 9 pm. After patiently waiting for an hour to get seated (this feat was only accomplished because my boyfriend finally got fed up and talked to the Manager after my friends had already tried to deal with the hostess), it took the waiter 20 minutes to get our order and 45 more minutes for him to bring us our food. Within these 45 mins, he did not come back once to check on us. The only reason why our food did not take longer was because I approached the manager again and told him we were having an awful experience. He handled the negative feedback in a terrible way (raising his voice to me) and did not apologize once for the terrible service. AVOID THIS PLACE. The food is not bad but certainly not worth the awful experience.
good food, prices deceiving

The food is good, the atmosphere is pleasant; the prices on the menus here are totally wrong - they are nearly double. Cubano sandwich was $15 (not $9), the appetizers wer $15 (not $8), and the main entrees were $20-35).
Our visit to NY
By Roquet on 7/31/2007
Visited NY for a meeting at ColumbiaÂ’s Teachers College and stay at a hotel on 7th Avenue near 56th. My daughter was with me and the trip was planned as a birthday present for her. Someone suggested another Cuban venue nearby but we ended up at Guantanamera. We were so impressed that I decided to make a reservation for the next evening, which was closer to my daughterÂ’s birthday. The staff was very accommodating and succeeded at making us feel like big shots. Of special mention, the meitre'd, followed by the star of the show ANGELO, our waiter. Good prices, great service and a fabulous menu. The live music needs more rehearsal and punch. In our books: a full TEN. Tess and Rocky Moran Orange County, CA
