I could write a very lengthy review, but the title covers it all... if you find better Ramen in this city, I'd be very surprised. It's even worth the sometimes ridiculous wait for a table.

Went twice in two days for dinner. The steamed pork buns are better than momofulu's and 50 cents cheaper, its a little sweet and spicy so it has a nice "bite" to it. They have a "special" ramen there, which is salty and silky. I didn't like putting in the yuzu stuff though, it tastes too citrusy for me. The wait, of course ranges from 40 minutes to 90 minutes but park yourself at the bar and have appetizers. The chicken wings were only so-so, some soy glaze with sesame seeds, and the carpaccio was not good. Still, would go back! the decor is much nicer than at most ramen places.

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Ippudo! I got the original ramen lunch set which was delicious. Portion was just right. The ramen broth was light and flavorful. I highly recommend this place! It gets a bit pricey for dinner but lunch is a good deal.

please dont pay any attention to the NY Magazine capsule review. The best ramen and broth can be found here. Its richness and depth of flavor are as good or better than any other in the city. I have no idea..and I am sure the crowds of Japanese students and businessmen that jam the place have no idea what the reviewer was talking about

Everyone I bring to Ippudo plans their return trip before leaving, some even before finishing their first bowl of ramen. The freshly made noodles are perfect - no rubber here. The broth is rich and sublime so be careful not to fall too much in love with it at risk of filling up; there is no 'wrap this to go, onegaishimasu'. I almost cried the first time I ordered appetizers and couldn't finish my ramen. It may seem trivial and a bit 'ramen-nazi-esque' but reheating would only cause the dish to lose its integrity (and dignity). And you wouldn't want that at all.

While this is a noodle bar and relatively cheap to begin with, I went for a friend's birthday dinner and was shocked by the final cost for our group. It was a group of 8 - admittedly a larger party for a restaurant of this size. (B-day girl's choice.) The staff told us the wait (at 7pm) would be 1.5 hours. For noodles?! In fact, the wait was 2hr+. And the bar is not well done - poor cocktails and choices. The food was good, but certainly not exceptional. I think Momofuku was better. And the bill, when all was said and done, was atrocious - for noodles!

The ramen is very, very good. And although I prefer a different style of ramen noodle, the broth here is so delicious that it more than makes up for that. Servers are always very friendly. The interior is swank. Even though I enjoy pulling a seat up to more pedestrian ramen bars, it's nice to have a change of scenery. Great sake menu too.

This place came in to the East Village with a lot of hype and I was expecting to be disappointed. I specifically came here for the ramen and it was interesting to see that they offer ramen sets - a bowl of ramen, rice dish, and some pickled vegetables. The broth of the ramen was to die for ... never had such a rich, non-salty broth for ramen. The noodles were a little thin and "doughy" .. not your typical ramen noodle, but overall not bad. They could use a more generous portion of pork as I thought it was a bit thin but taste-wise, it was great. Love the atmosphere and the decor.

Excellent Ramen, Excellent Experience

My friend and I went to Ippudo last night for the first time and I'm so glad we did! The experience was a great one. There is a bar in the front of the restaurant where we sipped on happy hour priced beer while we waited for a table. Once we were seated we had plenty of room to spread out and relax. It's a really comfortable place to bring a first date because you won't be crowded as you are in most other Ramen joints. Our waitress was lovely and attentive and the food was wonderful. I ordered the Akamaru Modern and it was delicious. I do recommend making reservations - we showed up on a Friday night at 7 and waited 30 mins for a table (worth the wait) and when we left around 8:30 there was a huge line outside. I can't wait to go back.
